Having now had a liver transplant I am fully recovered from the rigours of Magalluf and will be attending the awards dinner tomorrow night. My son is presenting an award and we were debating the player of the year earlier. For me it has to be Sigurdsson. Anyone think it should be someone else?
Honourable mentions for sure. Especially Taylor. Llorente has been instrumental too and at times (though not yet consistently) Mawson has looked a good buy.
A mention for Llorente too, his goals were priceless for us. But there's no getting past Gylfi being the player of the season. I think we may actually have been very close to relegation from the Premier League in our first season had we not got him in the January transfer window. even then he was wither scoring or assisting for us, true Swansea legend!
In all seriousness, for me it's either Gylfi or Llorente. If push comes to shove, I'd edge towards Gylfi - but only just!
Has to be Siggy, with Llorente a close second and a special mention to our Leon, ot takes managers a while to realise he is still the best in the club in what he does. But, they all realise it after a few games.
Gylfi shades it just for me but the fans eclipses everything for the exemplary support home and away during a crap season....One of the stands should be named "the Leon Britton Stand for the service he has given to the club and a stalwart in the dressing room whether playing or not...also for the work he has done with the schools over the years......I loved the way he has always been positive even when it's obvious things were slipping away from us....As we have had another bad season then the top accolade in my view should go to the Legend Leon who has not played much but has had a huge impact in the team,
Based on pre-season expectations I will go for Mawson as I believe he has done far better than expected, Siggy the obvious choice though, as for the rest . . . . . . . .
I first met and shook Leon's hand in the Adelphi the same week he joined. He was out bonding with Trunds,Tate and a few of the other players, He looked small and fragile and looked about 12 yrs of age and i remember talking with my pals at the time where we all agreed "what the hell have we signed here" .How wrong we all were as this small baby faced player grew into a giant and he deserves every bit of praise from all quarters.....
I remember him coming to our presentation night at Gowerton con club. Have a picture of my boy at 10y and my wife and Leon. Posted as my wife and her 2 kids. The guy is class and will always have a special place in our household.
totally off topic - I rarely this season get to see many Swans matches as the TV rights have changed - how did Olsson do overall??
wasn't sure he was an improvement. but, hands in the air he was. Still a little naïve defending, awesome going forward. That is the modern way.
