I was going to stipulate £10m profit, but im honestly struggling with £5m profit (without googling). So at least £5m profit. Jordan Henderson £16m And that's it, I'm sure there has to be a few more though, surely. Granted, we don't want to be seen as a selling club, but it is a business where profit/loss is paramount in the successful running of it, and I just can't see a lot of profit from our transfer dealings. Ashley gets all sorts of grief, and much of it deserved, but at least their transfer budget has been healthy over the years. The Kone situation has me confused as well, good player but has had his head turned, £12m profit after 6 months, sell him and reinvest. Reminds me of Phillips, put in 3 transfer requests, Leeds bid 20m, we refused, we went down, we got peanuts.
Bent as well and Mignolet was sold for a decent profit. Michael Bridges went for about 5m but that was a long time ago so would be way closer to 10m on this market. Beyond that there's really not too many. Difficult one. We don't usually invest very well so I wouldn't sell just yet.
He did come to mind but i think we bought him for £15m and sold him for £17m but the way it all happened, sort of blanked it all at the time.
Henderson £16m Bent £8m Mignolet £7m Bridges £6m That's profit and all I can find. I think we may have made a small loss on Gyan, bought for 13m, loan was 6m sold for 6m or we just about broke even.
We made quite a lot on transfers over 5-6 years and there's a number of players like: Carroll 35m, Cabaye 17m, Wijnaldum 11m, Debuchy 6m, Ba 6m, Sissoko (whatever silly money we get for him minus the 1.6m we bought him for) But then we blew like 70m in 7 months and got relegated costing us 100m+ **** players profits, spend what it takes to get a squad to keep you in the league - tv money is silly now!
Tell our chairman, he seems unaware or unconcerned, mind you he has employed some money tossers, I can think of MoN, Keane, Di Fanti and Poyet, what a shower.
This is a very short list. Our investments do not engender confidence, things are changing, but very slowly. This TV money is a bit of a poisoned chalice imo, only players and their agents have profited so far.
Colin Todd was £170000 profit back in the day. Colin Suggett £100000. That was when you could have a good night out, see a film, 4 fish suppers and a prostitute for 2/6. x
