I loved his accusation of the party benches opposite, a few weeks back in Parliament. It went something like this [and apologies if already posted]:

    D. Skinner: Half the Conservative MPs opposite are criminals.

Mr Speaker: The Honourable Gentleman will withdraw that remark.

D.Skinner: OK. Half the Conservative MPs opposite are not criminals.

    Brilliant.!

Lowe is a renowned Eurosceptic - he stood, and lost, for the Referendum Party (James Goldsmith's brigade) in '97.

I know politics is not supposed to be about personalities - at least that's what Tony Benn always said, but my god, just look at the 'outers'. What a rogues gallery. If George Galloway, Michael Gove, Boris Johnson, Nigel Farage and Rupert Lowe all agree on something, it pretty much has to be a bad idea.

It certainly doesn't help but the biggest problem is that whatever the remain camp says they just poo poo it. No facts or explanation they just say it's rubbish. I'm afraid I need a bit more than that. They don't seem to realise that they have to convince people who aren't already decided on leaving and to do that they need a lot more substance to what they say. I haven't seen anything yet which would sway me their way.

The standard of debate hasn't been that great from either side really. I'd like to hear a positive, passionate case put for Britain's future in partnership with our European neighbours. The EU is a long way from being perfect of course; perfection doesn't really exist in human affairs (outside of a Matt Letiss goal anyway), but there still has to be a case for a Europe united around common ideals of peace, prosperity and democracy. Something to aspire to anyway, rather than a fragmented Europe with each nation turning inward.

I'm told (haven't seen it myself) that there was a good programme on last night about it - possibly Jeremy Paxman? I'm going to look for it and see if I can watch it. My sister said it made good arguments for both camps and seemed pretty factual.

The BBC putting on factual unbiased political programmes. Surely not, what am I paying my licence fee for? You'll be telling me Laura Kuenssberg, Nick Robinson and Jeremy Paxman vote Labour next. Lets get the real information from one of Rupert's channels, one's you can trust not to have a vested interest...<whistle>

This is how politics works and why I detest it. It is all about the biggest and the loudest being able to bash the other sides the most. It sucks.

Grow up and show us some facts, real facts and let us decide. Leave the squabbling to us kids on the football forums :)

Tony Blair has warned Labour voters not to fall for right-wing anti-European Union arguments.

The former Prime Minister said there was an "unholy alliance" of pro-Brexit campaigners who wanted to build a "completely different" kind of UK.

That vision included stripping back workers' rights and the social security system, he said.

He also hit out at what he described as proposals to turn the UK into a "free market offshore" trading power for the rest of the world.

The former Labour leader also said that the Remain campaign has so far been "strong and effective".

Just as the remain thought they had it all sorted.

There was a report in the Express, yesterday I think, with a headline saying 12 million Turks would be coming to the UK, once they are accepted into the EU.
When you read the report it actually says "15.2% of Turks would consider coming to the UK" not would be coming.
For me there is a major difference between considering taking an action and actually doing it.
The other thing the scaremongers don't spell out is how far away from joining the EU, Turkey actually is. As I understand it, of the 37 requirements they need to meet, for entry, they have met just ONE.
It also doesn't help when the Minister for Defence, Penny Mordaunt outrageously lies, saying that we don't have a veto to block Turkey from joining the EU, when we do have one.
If only people would tell the truth and be damned.
