There is little money in French football apart for a couple of clubs. A number of clubs at Championship level still have part-time players.
http://gianlucadimarzio.com/en/napo...-strinic-whos-between-watford-and-galatasaray Croatian international Ivan Strinic, currently with Napoli, apparently deciding between us and Galatasary.
Charente-an unhappy departmente by all accounts (Charente Libre specifically) but it seems fine for us. The number of free entertainments in the summer seems back to before Poitou-Charente was subsumed into Nouvelle Acquaintaine. The main problem is the new TGV bypasses most of the dept. Our station (Ruffec) has lost its TGV trains altogether-we went on the last direct service to Paris just before the end of June.
Olympique Lyonnais are certainly one of the larger clubs, but a season ticket can only cost €240. For my local team Chateauroux one will cost €80 for the 19 league games, or half price for students. Probably one of the reasons there is not much money in French football.
Just seen 1st half high lights HG was our best player we need to more players up front before the season starts Troy could miss the 1st month so after that we could be bottom
That's very negative Brian. Seems to me Silva is holding his best cards back for now. Getting minutes into legs that are likely to spend quite a bit of time on the bench or not even here. So he is tinkering with the midfield & attack to see which parts work and best formation. I'm happy with what I see so far and with the other players added we will look pretty good.
Ok that was OTT a little ,If Zarate and Pereyra are fit to play 30 min then i have not seen them used and they need match fitness . So far MS has not bought in any of his Ex players . Most teams want to be better than last year we have to be better than last year or we are down.
Femenia, Britos, Cathcart, Cleverley, Pereyra, Zarate, Deeney all being kept in cotton wool or recovering from injury, some just minor injury. + probably an upgrade on Amrabat and a striker and maybe Gibbs but that is financialy unlikely. Not sure why we want any players from a relegated side. Maybe one. We were on for top ten without injuries and without the players being de-motivated neither of which I see happening this year. So new players are deepening the squad and improving quality further. Likely to be 3 more transfers in I think and we have hardly spent much of our budget yet.
Ok Chris if we compare Hulls results from the time he added to them and us over the same period who has the better results . But i agree 3 more in one at the back a wide player with pace, But we must have a forward that can play with or instead of troy .
I think it's good that we have financialy astute owners who won't put the club at risk so will not become a Portsmouth or Bolton with hundreds of millions owed. A word of caution though - Grenada - when they chose to sell the club, they asset stripped the club to ours and Udinese benefit. That could be us if we are not careful a few years down the road.
The owners looked at us as a "London" club that they could buy for not a lot and could loan us better players to try and get us into the EPL for the benefit of Udinese .For the last 25y+ the have been Udie fans and as long as we are the money cow that can help them that will carry on .Plus as long as it lasts i will back them and if they sell us so be it
