Another detailed account from our Club reporter, which makes the game sound almost exciting, in this link:

    Fulham 4 QPR 2 (Friendly)

The Gaffer continued to mix the team up in this behind clsoed doors game at Motspur Park. Great to see Dennis Adeniran back in contention. Bit worrying that Ayite was subbed early on however - nothing from the Club what was wrong. And stilll no sign of Bettinelli. The team:

Rodak (Norman 58'); Fredericks, Sigurdsson, Djalo, Ream; Christensen, Cisse (McDonald 45'), O'Riley; Aluko (Cairney 45'), Woodrow (Adeniran 58'), Ayite (Johansen 28')

"Head Coach Slaviša Jokanović named a strong side to start the match, which featured numerous First Team players. The encounter also saw a debut handed to new signing Cisse. The powerful midfielder deployed in a holding roll alongside Lasse Vigen Christensen and Matt O’Riley in the Fulham midfield.

The Whites started brightly and took a deserved lead in the 16th minute. Ibrahima Cisse who had been an energetic force in the defensive part of the field picked up the ball just outside the QPR box and unleashed a vicious drive. His effort thundered off the underside of the bar and deflected in off a helpless Seni Dieng in the Hoops net. The perfect start for the new addition. Fulham were pegged back 10 minutes later when Dan Darbyshire produced a fine solo goal. Breaking into the box from the left wing and producing a neat finish from a tight angle to beat Marek Rodák in the Fulham net.

Despite the set-back Fulham continued to press and almost regained the lead in the 32nd minute. Sone Aluko created some space just inside the box and looked to send a perfectly weighted effort into the top corner, only to be denied by the outstretched arm of Dieng. It was Aluko again causing problems for QPR minutes later. After a quickly taken corner Stefan Johansen ran to the near post and played in the Nigerian whose shot flashed across the keeper and tucked in nicely at the far post. As the referee brought the first-half to a close it was Fulham in the ascendancy. Christensen and Cauley Woodrow both with half chances prior to the intermission.

Fulham picked up where they left off in the second period and the lead was extended 3-minutes into the half. Christensen attacking the box with a trademark direct run and he played a teasing ball across the face of goal. Matt O’Riley was on hand to fire home from close range.

The dominance continued and Stefan Johansen, who had replaced Floyd Ayité midway through the first half produced a fine effort to increase the lead even further for the hosts. The Norwegian captain lashing a left-footed strike into the top left-hand corner from 25 yards out. As the visitors legs grew heavy the Whites continued to press and probe in search of another goal.

Substitute Dennis Adeniran providing a combative presence to Fulham midfield went close in the 61st minute with a low drive from just inside the box and Tom Cairney fired just wide in the 75th minute after a lovely interchange between himself and Johansen.Despite a late goal the Whites were able to hold their lead comfortably and return to winning ways as the day’s tick down to the start of a new Season."

looks a good result, a couple of observations, no Humpreys who i feel could be another Dembele
and no sign of another keeper coming in, and as for kalas can we not tie him down with a contract.

Young Stevie Humhrys is out in Portugal with a mixed U23 and U18 squad, rosc. They went out to Porto today for a week long training camp (same as last year I think) and have two games each lined up.

    * Steve Wigley’s U18s play FC Marinhas on Saturday, then Boavista on Tuesday, both kick off at 11am

    * Peter Grant’s U23s play Braga (B) on Saturday then Guimaraes (B) on Tuesday both kick off at 5pm

Not sure where Humphrys sits in Jokanovic's plans this year. He was a mini-star in last year's main squad pre-season tour, did well with goals for the U23s and then had a mixed spell out on loan. With a couple of first team cameos thrown in. I suspect the coaches want him to have a solid U23 campaign - he is only 19 after all - to get some of the rough edges in his play sorted. Or, more likely, a season long loan.

    Marinhas 0 Fulham 5 (U18) (Friendly)

The youngsters march on with another batch of goals; last season's high scorer Cameron Thompson getting two of them. The team was:

Wickens, Spence, Martin, Armsworth (60’ Felix), Garrido, York, Kelly (45’ Frei), De Havilland (60’ Francois), Abraham (45’ Thompson), Davis (60’ Hilton), Tahir (60’ Santos-Clase)

Here's a link to the Club's quite lengthy Match report:

    Kalas started the 2nd half.

Unfortunately he wasn't in a Fulham shirt.

Oopsa Daisy ! Guess the best place to start is with the Dark Side's team:

First half: Caballero; Azpilicueta, David Luiz, Cahill (c); Moses, Fabregas, Kante, Alonso; Willian, Batshuayi, Pedro.

Second half: Eduardo; Clarke-Salter, David Luiz (c) (Azpilicueta 60 (Cahill 75)), Kalas; Kenedy, Pasalic, Scott, Tomori; Boga, Remy, Baker.

That's a heck of team in the first session and one they paid zillions for. We started with a relatively defensive 4-2-3-1; McDonald and Cisse in defensive mid with Ayite up front on his own.

First half: Button, Fredericks, Sigurdsson, Djalo, Ream, McDonald, Cairney, Cisse , Johansen, Aluko and Ayite

Second half: Button, Fredericks, Sigurdsson, Djalo, Ream, McDonald, Cairney, Cisse (Woodrow 69'), Johansen (O'Riley 84'), Aluko (Piazon 60') and Ayite

    Unused subs: Rodak, Norman, Christensen

The bottom line was quite simply in that first half when we let in five, our CBs couldn't match the pace of the opposition and Button was shaky. Not fretting though. This was a training exercise at their Cobham ground and wouldn't read too much into the formation the Gaffer played. And hey, we scored with another penalty - Johansen this time.

But ... the weak links are stark; Goalkeeper, Centre Back and Striker. Not a great illuminati and what everybody has already pointed out. Time is again beginning to go against us though, especially with the squad off to their second camp (Austria) at the beginning of the week. And the size of the squad today speaks it's own zillions. Two goalies on the bench !? I make it that we have only 18 main men (and that's no disrespect to the youngsters on the fringe).

No match report from the Club (yet), so here's a link to the Dark Side report:

Watched the highlights of the friendly against Chelsea, and yes there was a big chasm in
the ability between teams, but we seemed so slow, the performance was well below par with
players making little or no effort especially our big fat no 20 ",who was that"

That was new boy Marcelo Djalo.

So right rosc. The other newby Cisse didn't look much better than Djalo - so little effort. Know it's only highlights but we seemed poorly organised. Here are the highlights, what do others think?

My initial thoughts on that friendly:

    - That first half team from Chelsea was very strong, with half a dozen players who were signed for more than our entire first team squad. Still a disappointing performance though.
-Where were Kebano, Odoi & Madl? Injured or rested? Given our tiny squad, I assume everyone fit would be there.
-I don't imagine that formation won't be used again this season. I get why you'd use it against Chelsea (and with our bare bones squad), but there is no team remotely as good as them in our division.
-Both our recognised left backs were with the England U-19s (excluding Odoi). Of course that does raise another issue - both our recognised left backs are under 19.
-I assume the no. 20 that was criticised by Ros was Djalo? It doesn't fill me with confidence that he's getting 90 minutes in these games.
-How does it feel to be LVC, the only player not to come on in a friendly? Good to see O'Riley getting game time though.

Overall conclusion - we need to pull our fingers out and sign Kalas & Rolan, or whomever is the back up options to them. This isn't even about upgrading the team, it's making sure we can field a full matchday squad in three weeks time. I know it's a challenging market, but time is not on our side.

Georgie Williams and that man Stevie Humphrys with our goals. From our Club reporter's assessment we played well and were unlucky not to get the win. Here's a link to his (presumably) detailed account:

Typical summer as it pelts down. Some great saves by our goalie throughout. At the other end, bit of a concern after Stevie Humphrys had to go off injured following a clash with their goalie shortly before half time. The team was:

T.Ashby-Hammond, S.Sessegnon, Kavanagh, Harris, Davies, Jenz, Thorsteinsson, Nabay, Williams, Adebayo, Humphrys (Pearce 39')

Our first goal came from a typical Stevie Humphrys run and thumping shot in the 26th minute. The other two were in the second half with another Steven involved in both; Steven Sessegnon scoring one and seeing a cross go in of one of their defenders for our third.

Marcus Bettinelli back in goal and Matt O'Riley getting an assist, what more could you ask for. Not so good was Tom Cairney coming off early, having missed the West Ham game with a knee injury. And also, our lack of depth in the squad. The team was:

Bettinelli; Fredericks, Djalo, Ream, Ryan Sessegnon; McDonald, Cairney (Cissé 37'), Johansen (O'Riley 63'); Lucas Piazon, Sone Aluko (Woodrow 73'), Floyd Ayité (Opoku 84')

    Unused subs: Rodak, Button

Has anything been said about why Odoi and Kebano haven't involved in the recent games?

They were both in Poland and played in those matches but I can't remember seeing either involved in any matches since.
