    Been supporting the Toon for 20 years and I don't think I can remember us getting to the last 8 of the League Cup. We have an abysmal record in it.

    A good cup run will help us get promoted.

    We had two big issues going into this season. Firstly the players were low on confidence. Secondly we have a new squad and a relatively new manager trying to change the whole club from top to bottom. A good run gives the players confidence and also give Rafa more games to work on the players and work towards moulding them into the team he wants. Consistency should improve the more they play.

    We have more cover now across the pitch. Plus, with Rafa's changes we should be getting fewer injuries even with the increased number of games. With Rafa it's all about the squad. WE might not always like it, but if we want Rafa here we have to accept it. It's always been his way and it always will be.

    Leeds/Norwich and Bristol/Hull are great ties as well, we could be looking at a really good opportunity to reach the semi-finals if we can get past Preston and then draw the winners of one of those ties.

    EDIT: Southampton/Sunderland is a great opportunity as well, neither team in great form. Also with City/United and Tottenham/Liverpool we'll see some big teams fall.

    This could be a fantastic opportunity! Although watch us beat Preston and then go away to Man City!
