Fulham lost 4-0, Burton lost 3-1 at Norwich so we know what will happen during the next 7 days don't we? Derby in bottom 3......
After our seemingly positive performance today, and the debacle at Fulham, on paper they should be there for the taking next Sat, with Burton as an entree on Tues, then the 2 week international break until a pair of home matches:- Tue 27 Sep 19:45 Burton V QPR Sat 1 Oct 12:45 Fulham V QPR Sat 15 Oct 15:00 QPR V Reading Tue 18 Oct 19:45 QPR V Bristol City Sat 22 Oct 15:00 Sheff Wed V QPR Fri 28 Oct 19:45 QPR V Brentford
Seems like we really piled it on in the 2nd half, but nothing to show for the effort, so seems like 2 pts dropped. Blues had to defend manfully at times in the second-half. Had they seen it out to the break they probably would have won the game. As it was, credit to QPR who were very spirited after the interval. This Blues team is nothing if not resilient, however. please log in to view this image Steven Caulker equalised for QPR with his second goal of the season Birmingham City stretched their unbeaten run to five Championship games as they drew at Queens Park Rangers. Both goals came from first-half corners as first Lukas Jutkiewicz headed the visitors in front before an unmarked Steven Caulker levelled for QPR. Adam Legzdins saved from Tjaronn Chery after the break as QPR failed to win for a fifth game in all competitions but ended their three-match losing run. Birmingham remain unbeaten away from home so far this term and stay fifth. Having gone 28 months without a goal before scoring his stoppage-time winner against Sheffield Wednesday, Jutkiewicz found his second goal in two games to give Blues the lead as he nodded in from close range after Michael Morrison's header. He had forced a good save from Alex Smithies early on, as Birmingham - who were without striker Clayton Donaldson through injury - started brightly. All 11 of QPR's league goals so far this season have come from set-pieces and the result keeps them 16th in the table. Both sides pushed for a winner in the second half but Idrissa Sylla missed the target for the hosts after his team-mate Nedum Onuoha had blazed well over. Def 2 pts dropped. Second half was very good and best atmosphere from crowd for ages since we actually had something to cheer.
On way home....really happy with the team, the effort...the two Poles...Ariel b was why Sandro must never be mentioned again... Pawel was a winger we dream of...Luongo was great, Sylla was everywhere and would have won it if BFG hadn't got in the way.... If we could play like this every week we would all be happy...ish
I made my connection. Currently on the Thames link line heading to East Croydon I think. Still touch and go whether I get to Gatwick on time. Any more delays and Im snookwred. Anybody got a spare bed if I miss it lol?
I don't know what you expect Col, but I thought that was a good performance. Admittedly we dropped two points against a team we should have beaten on the day, but the effort and commitment couldn't be faulted and the players were rightly applauded off the pitch at the end. We are so much more positive without Henry in the side - Borysiuk is going to be a big crowd favourite and Luongo played well too. Hasselbaink got it wrong again by selecting Cousins out wide, but his injury (hopefully not too bad) proved a blessing on the day, because we got a proper wide player on in Wszolek, who also had a very good game. The only disappointment for me was up front. Sylla was average, and If we were going to go two up late on, one of them should have been Washington.
Bit worried about Ariel's lunging tackles. Only a question of time before he is sent off I fear. Good to watch apart from that.
Good news from Gatwick. My dash wasn't in vain and I am currently sitting on the plane. The next time I won't be booking early flights out of LGW.
