Don't know why you need to add you were at the game. You want a medal? So was I, do I get one? Polter couldn't hold it up and if he was capable of controlling a ball we would have scored another couple at least
As i said it's a funny one because he is a nuisance and puts a shift in but he is hopeless with his feet. if he had better control he would score a lot more goals...no QPR would score more goals.
Well, if i wasn't at the game how Can I possibly comment ( I was going to use some expletives but wouldn't want the old bill on here slapping my wrists ) . Was just making that point to clarify it is a first hand opinion . Watch any highlights reel and you will see all our attacks a went through him .
Only the three. I couldn't keep up with roller! Just back home from a pub meal. I wouldn't have gone out if they had equallised!
Great game today and probably the best quality game over 90 mins that we've played all season. There was team work with individual skill; application with energy and a determination to get the job done that has been lacking. There was also a balanced team chosen by a manager who actually seems to know what he is doing. There were also some very poor first touches - mainly Polter - but also some very good hold up play a la OBZ - also Polter! There was also an enigma - yep, Polter!! Some careful substitutions that paid off for QPR and glimpses of a kid - El Khayati - with some very neat skill and some quick thinking with vision. Most of all there were two keepers both with cat like reflexes. We should have been 2 or 3 nil up at half time but for their keeper and Smithies' lightening reactions saved us from another bore draw at the death. Oh, there was also some very poor decision makers who luckily, for a change, did not cost us the three points. A few more performances like that and we will get LR rocking again because at times today we were a little flat. Agree with Beth and others - "We've got our Rangers back" and it feels very, very good.
In another thread I said that we needed some 3's though in my heart I felt 7 pts in the next 3 including today was more realistic. I anticipated that today would be a draw given Ipswich's current position in the table. With the win, I believe 9 points can be had and I see no reason that I should be disappointed. COYR's
Having watched the replay, Alex Smithies MOTM without any doubt. Amazing double save at the death. Well done lad and keep it up!
Anyone wondering where we might be if we'd had Smithies in goal all season? I've been a fan of Green but his form this season has been poor and I've always thought he's a bit too meek and mild to command his area.
Probably an extra 4-6 points but with a young goalkeeper with more experience. He looks potentially excellent. I hope people are starting to realise it's a myth we need a plodder like Henry or Sandro in midfield to avoid conceding goals.
TBH the club has made many mistakes on the field of play. Mistakes that have cost us this season. Seriously, it's February and the season is over. A huge cock up by the club. However For me, yesterday's game may not have been like watching Brazil but it's the best i have seen for a long time. Polter was a nuisance all game, Smithies was confident and will be a good keeper for us. Onuoah only lost concentration once (at the end which they nearly scored from). So pleased with the performance and hopefully 3 points off the Rupert's next week to bury our last few meetings.
Does anybody want us to go up this season? I don't, had enough humiliations over the past few seasons to last me for another season at least.
