Twitter is split between those calling him a murdering terrorist and those calling him a peace visionary.
I've read a lot about the Troubles and all I can say is that I'm pleased I wasn't there! If this didn't happen, if that didn't happen, if he didn't do this, if he didn't do that, etc, etc. We can't turn back the clock but at least Martin McGuinness and the other major players got their heads together (albeit twenty five years too late) and sought peace.
No bro, I purposely didn't use those three letters. judging by some on social media... some actually want him to rot in hell so if anything it's potentially a RIH thread to some....
My understanding was that he only sought peace because he was on the losing side, rather than die fighting, he quit, found a middle ground and tried to become a hero. At the end of the day he is a murderer, he is responsible for a lot of people dying and in my opinion he shouldn't have been given the privilege to earn redemption. If I was law maker, mass murderers would be given the lethal injection along with peados and rapists.
