Things I learnt from that. 1) Never ask Ralph if he is well....he will take 35 sec to answer. 2) They can still lose your luggage even when you are a billionaire. 3) Katharina is happy 4) Ronald is happier here and in the PL than he even thought
Indeed, it's why I mentioned the Dutch journo's interview [apparently it's on Twitter], as he said Ronald might be at Saints for the long term. Which he is gutted about because he wants him as the National side's manager.
I like Ralph but i imagine actually working with him to be a garrulous nightmare. Me: Get up to anythin on the weekend? RK: Well I needed a new heel for my shoe, so, I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Portsmouth in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now, to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on 'em. Give me five bees for a quarter, you'd say... Now where were we? Oh yeah: the important thing was I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because of the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones......
Yeah, Ralphs ramblings seemed oddly reminiscent of ole Abe. I can just see Krueger holding a sixpence in the air and telling a lengthy story about shooting down a german plane about 5 years ago and how that helped settle a bet between him and teddy roosevelt..
All comes down to what you want out of life. Do you want to increase your chances of winning something by moving to one of the big clubs (here or abroad) with little chance of being a true legend....as most managers just keep moving on. Fergusons are rare. Not criticising that as a choice....be nice to retire with a string of titles on your CV. Does Ron want to manage his national side....though as he said, Why not England? Be nice if Ron truly buys into the dream, but perhaps I'm just dreaming.
Does anyone know what happened with Katharina before the match last night? I saw on reddit people making jokes about how she looked (shocked/upset) but haven't read anything on here?
She had a luggage problem at Heathrow (as mentioned by Ralph)....not sure that would seriously upset you though. Unless she had our transfer fund in it
Given the choice between managing the Dutch national side and the English, I can't see many people going for the latter.
Wasn't me saying it, but Ronald. I bet there are a lot of managers who would want to accept the poisoned chalice, though I would think Ron would prefer his own country.
