Rangers' Fixtures & Results, Season 2020-2021

10/07/2020 : Football in Scotland has been released from the Covid-19 ban on sports and the SPFL Season 2020-2021 is scheduled to start on Saturday August 1st. This will only be the SPL to start with and in stadia sans fans.
The lower Divisions are currently planning to start in October.
Pre-season 'bounce' games (training friendlies) have already started and Rangers beat Hamilton Academical 2-1 today.

In view of this it makes sense to open the thread for Season 2020-2021. The 2019-2020 thread is still active as there are overlapping games. These are the Scottish FA Cup and Rangers' Euro games, which I will cover in the 2019-2020 thread.

07/08/2020 : Eight Aberdeen players have been affected by Covid-19, full details in the link below.
It seems it was all Rangers' fault, if the following is anything to go by !

All eight men were in an Aberdeen bar - linked to the city's Covid-19 spike - on Saturday after the loss to Rangers.

BTW, SSN are reporting today that Lille's interest in Alfredo Morelos has waned. Apparently they are now interested in signing Ghent striker Jonathan David instead.

 

SPL (SPFL1), Sunday 09/08/2020 : Rangers 3-0 St Mirren

A comfortable enough win today, thanks to a 1st half OG and a 2nd half brace from Morelos. One thing that bothered me though was needless passing by our players around in and about our box ... it just gives chances to the opposition.
I broke off from typing this for the post-match analysis, which was followed by SG's post-match interview ... 'let's be less cute around our box'.

11/08/2020 : Celtic's Boli Bolingoli - another footballer with his brains in his boots. Due to his selfishness and stupidity he has caused the cancellation of Celtic's matches this week. Aberdeen's matches are cancelled too, following their players' breach of the Covid-19 guidelines last week. If there are any more such infringements then the entire 2020-2021 Season could be stopped, details in the link below.

SPL (SPFL1), Wednesday 12/08/2020 : Rangers 3-0 St Johnstone

Another comfortable win, that puts Rangers top of the SPL. The goals came from Barisic (superb free kick), Kent and in the 2nd half, Aribo. However, there was still a lot of the back and sideways passing, although this time away from our box.
SG in his post-match interview was not happy about this dithering play either.

14/08/2020 : This farce at Heart of Midlothian's training ground (Hull City can train there but Hearts cannot), is a result of decisions made by the Scottish football authorities. Whether 'corrupt' or not, their reputation for incompetence remains undimmed.

Two points dropped by Rangers from a display described on Sportsound as 'toothless'. This is hard for me to judge without having seen the game. I just hope we are not embarking on a repeat of the second half of last Season !
