http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/sa...ishing_link_with_Premier_League_club/?ref=mac Les Reed has suggested re-establishment of links with Saints Ladies. Only a possibility at this moment, but I think it would be a good thing. Women's teams struggle financially without a link to a men's side and PL sides tend to have women's teams. I think it is all part of building community links.
Yes, yes you will. It would be nice to have a decent, even rivalry between Southampton and Portsmouth, but if you get into the WSL before us, I'll be mightily annoyed.
Meh. Once you get into women's football, you can join my campaign against the BBC's bias in terms of coverage, as however much Southampton are bankrolled, it would be literally impossible for them to become a WSL club before 2017 at the earliest.... and that would depend on them winning promotion to the WPL South this season. So more likely it wouldn't be until 2018.
Why not let the Ladies Team play before the first team at SMS. Open the gates a bit earlier, fans get two games for the price of one, the Ladies will get far more fans than they would expect, fans may get to SMS earlier and buy more refreshments, encourage more ladies/girls to support Saints. Win/Win to me
My company sponsor the u16 and u18 Southampton ladies teams. They have been trying to establish themselves as an official SFC Ladies team for some time but Cortese was opposed to the idea. I hope this comes off for them under the new management.
I'd like to see the day when both Pompey and Southampton are in the WSL1, both sides chalk-full of internationals, with Lucy Quinn and Ini Umatong being England regulars.
