Every protester has been proven right. What a ****ing disgrace. https://www.theguardian.com/sport/gallery/2017/feb/10/rios-olympic-venues-six-months-on-in-pictures
Yep. People complain about West Ham getting the Olympic stadium but they were the only game in town. It'd have ended up just like those pics without them. Edit. If thats the Maracana where are Brazil playing their games now??
It's what happens when poor **** countries get these events. Look at usa.. the los angeles stuff is all still being used etc, as is all the london 2012 stuff
For some reason, the Maracana hasn't been used since the Olympic closing ceremony, they've been playing their home internationals in other stadiums.
I'm pretty sure when Brazil was awarded it they were the fastest growing economy in the world and were being hailed as an economic miracle. But yeah, good point - lets have every Olympics and World Cup in England or America. All together now "God save our...."
Anyone who thought what would happen to all the venues would be different would be deluded they spent billions on it
Chinas is the same. Think the Aussie ones too. To be honest Id be happy if every WC was in america. Put on a show better than anyone.
Exactly yea All those deaths building the quatar (sp) stadiums and theyll never be used ever again Keep em to good proper countries (where they already have stadia and dont need every single one built..)
Are you talking about the deaths at the Zaha Hadid stadia that were widely reported in this country but then proven to be absolute fabrications and she successfully took legal action against the reporters?
Brazil have the ninth biggest economy in the world. And China, which has the same issue with unused stadiums, is the second biggest economy in the world.
Yea but it's a poor country.. so much poverty in the population and abject poverty, not like being able to afford sky kind Same with china
Maybe but regardless, qatar is a stupid place for a worle cup for many reasons And like i said all the stadiuma going to be rocks in the desert
There's been hundreds of deaths in Qatar building the infrastructure for the World Cup, though I think only about half a dozen on the stadiums themselves.
I thought it said in the article the Maracana was out of use due to unpaid electricity bills of over a million dollars after the Olympics? Did I make that up or the only one that read it?
Really? Why didn't they tell us this on the news? Re-vote. N.B Actually it is, by leaving the EU we are in a position to discuss our own trade deals away from the other member countries with any partner we choose, which could include the world's 2 largest economies. But lets not go political on this before the mods shut it down.
