Stephens and Jones look excellent at the back. Reed in charge in midfield. Olomola and Johnson looking good up front. The future is bright....!!
Tyreke Johnson looking very good at this level considering its his first start - great cross which Olomola puts over
Haha. Mind you, having got over the excitement of being two nil up, this ManUtd side are pretty ****....
Claude will be impressed tonight I think ... he's there, actually doing what a good manager does showing interest int he club's academy.
Doing what the fans spent 6 months moaning the other chap didn't.... Meanwhile he doesn't realise he's going to get slaughtered for not signing a zillion players to keep the path clear for the youngsters...
Genuinely think a few of these lads will get in there soon enough. On another note, Kelvin is part of the U21 coaching set up
FT 2-0. I only saw the second half but thought the U23's looked pretty good considering it was against Man Utd. Very promising.
He played wide last season with Gallagher through the middle and he didn't look as comfortable. As you said earlier United were not great(Young side), but first half their players showed some good individual skill. Second half saints didn't give them a sniff in possession and killed the game off brilliantly
The path is pretty clear even with some additions. We have at least six European matches and the cups, and we aren't overrun with depth; even if we sign two CBs with Fonte going, Stephens wouldn't be too far out of the picture.
The u23 are still playing the old system, they break well in attack but when they loose the ball they fall back into two lines of 4 and 5, at times you could put a ruler through the straight lines. Defence well organised and Reed marshalled the midfield players, Reed looked the player of old. Wide players that actually looked to take on defenders is a novelty. Yann looks good but abit timid going forward- unlike McQueen. For me Reed, Hesketh and Olomola should be included in Saurdays squad to give the young players a gee up
