Hot on the heals of yet ANOTHER victory, I welcome you all to ANOTHER super duper, ultra positive thread for the visit Man City to the home of the Scintillating, Sensational, Stunning, Stupendous, Super Saints!!! (SSSSSS).

As usual, any negativity will be ridiculed and happy clapping is actively encouraged :)

First things first. FORTY YEARS. Yep, not my age (I wish!), but 40 years since THAT day. FLT has done a great thread on that so I won’t hog it here, but Sunday is a day for celebration of that day, that long 7 minute wait for the final whistle, that felt as long as the hot, hot summer of 1976 :)

However the game is going, how about at 83 mins the stadium erupts into pandemonium to honor the day to the chants of “There’s only one Bobby Stokes!”?

So over to this game against the light blue side of Manchester….

The SSSSSS are finally back at St Mary’s after two road trips that yielded 4 points and 5 goals (should have been 6 points and about 15 goals).

I think that the SSSSSS go into the game as clear, clear, clear, clear favourites – City visit us sandwiched between two VERY important games with Real Madrid. They are 5 points clear of 5th place in 3rd, and even after their loss on Sunday, I feel there are too few games left for their rivals and the 1976 FA Cup runners up to catch them.

Quite often we as fans worry about other teams and their past. Just remember, we won the JPT…Pah! They’ll never win that! Though in fairness, they have competed in it in their not so distant past, unlike the other so called ‘big 4/5/6’. All the more reason that this proves our near past is more spectacular than theirs. I mean, come on, we won it at second attempt :)

    On to the game…

The time/date has been changed three times. From Saturday 30th April at 3pm to Sunday 1st May at 4pm, to Sunday at 4:15pm to Sunday at 4:30pm. Let’s be honest, if it wasn’t only a week away, it would end up being a pre-season game.

There is, as always with us, no reason to see anything other than a win. We sit comfortably 8th in the table, we are STILL on a roll; we are only 10 points below them (sadly one game short of catching them by the end of the season), but still knocking on the door of Europe, still with a victory to come also next week and hand Leicester the title :) (I’m preparing that thread with glee too). Man City have more important things to think about that a trip to the south coast, and I feel our intensity and sheer brilliance will be too much for them. I even predict that J-Rod will score, to put those demons to rest, though I doubt his celebration will be anything like Dani Osvaldo (who?), when he did Kompany like a kipper then proceeded to machine gun the crowd.

We have been reasonably successful against them recently, and I see that continuing on Sunday.

5 game form coming in to this one:

    SSSSSS:
SSSSSS v Liverpool – 3-2 Gave them a chance, but they were blown away by the brilliance of Pelle, Mane and Wanyama. We even missed a pen on purpose so not to embarrass them.

Leicester v SSSSSS – Aside from SSSSSS we want them to win the league. This was our present to Ranieri & co. Great performance, 2 clear/debatable (delete as you see fit – but PLEASE we have argued it to death!) penalty claims.

SSSSSS v Newcastle – 3-1. Could/Should have been more. Stroll in the park and no danger of anything else. Great to see Jay Rod back :)

Everton v SSSSSS – 1-1. How was that not a victory? They were on the rack all game and offered little.

Aston Villa v SSSSSS – 2-4. We toyed with them. Kept getting a two goal lead, then gave the false hope. How cruel are we :)

    Man City:
Bournemouth v Man City – 0-4. Pah! We only lost 2-0 at their place. And we did it on purpose.
Man City v West Brom – 2-1. Pah! Concede at home against West Brom!
Chelsea v Man City – 0-3. Pah! We scored 3 goals first!
Newcastle v Man City – 1-1. Pah! Copycats!
Man City v Stoke – 4-0. Pah! Stoke are on holiday already.

    Team News:
Austin looks good for us, Nasri to return for them. Gardos and Toure no return date. Looks like Silva may be out after the 0-0 draw with Real Madrid.

    Prediction:
3-1 Saints. Or 1-0 in memory of the boys of ’76.

    J-Rod, J-Rod, J-Rod for us and Agüero for them. If 1-0 J-Rod.

    My lineup:
    Forster
Martina (I prefer him to Cedric and it’s my thread ;) )
    Fonte
    Van Dijk
    Bertrand
    Tadic
    Clasie
    Wanyama
    Davis
    Long
    J-Rod

    Selected Subs:
Austin, Mane & Pelle on the bench. What a bench ;)

    COYR!!!!!

    Be HAPPY!:

As it’s the super trouper duper thread:

Please all City fans (Paul Powers left foot etc), this is the Saints POSITIVE thread. 95% true, 5% tongue-in-cheek ;)

    Great thread.

Start of an important week for Man City. Two big away game's, one against one of the best and most skilful clubs on the planet and the other against Real Madrid.

I am very surprised this match hasn't been switched. Wasn't the West Ham match changed to accommodate their replay against Liverpool so why on earth couldn't this game have been switched to a Saturday evening, or is it all to do with TV contracts? The King's team play their match at 1600 hours on the Saturday, giving them a longer recovery time. Anyhow, how do I see things. 0-0 or perhaps a more exciting 2-1 win for Saints. Anyhow, I will try to listen to the game on the car radio as I drive back from the beach at Son Serra here on Mallorca.

I'll go for a 2-1 win to Saints (obviously). Long and Jay to score. I will continue to say Jay every week until that immense moment occurs. :)

Pellegrini on Silva: "David had a slight strain in his thigh. It is probably tough for him to recover in just one week"

I love this quote, he'snot even thinking about the game against us! 3-1 Saints.

2-1, Long and Jay. I'm not just copying you WS, I'm sticking to my not predicting Graziano and desperately want Jay to score :)

Not a bigger, big time Charlie, twat will you ever find as a referee.... booked me before, having seen me having a coffee a couple of hours before the game and when I said 'Hi' to him, he responded by telling me that I was one of the three players one booking away from a suspension... he couldn't wait!
