I took the family up to stay in a hotel in Grenwich for the weekend, I remember taking the underground in to the game and as we stopped at each station we picked up more and more Saints supporters. By the time we reached Wembly the train was rocking, great day, great weekend.

Brilliant day, met some really nice Carlisle fans, they loved that comp as well. Funny looking back, we were almost out against Torquay & Norwich, but showed something special progressing each time. Beating MKD 4 times in one season, L1 never fails to raise a smile. uts

I remember watching us against MK Dons in the first leg and one of their players tore us apart on the night and we were quite fortunate to come away with a 1-0 victory. Was raving about him for the next couple of weeks, then Saints signed him in the next transfer window and I was delighted. His name? Jason Puncheon

Superb day ... the sight of 100 coaches lined up at SMS, all packed with saints fans, all driving along the motorway together. Superb.

The whole atmoshphere outside Wembley, nothings come close to it since.

This is really sad, but hey I'm an old fart. My lad would have been 8 for that first leg away at MK. We scored, we cheered and then we settled down. I stood up and shouted "que cera cera...." And 3,000 Saints fans joined in. When we finished my lad turned to me with a big grin and said, "Hey Dad, you started that!"

This was back when I was cool. I am no longer that.

Get used to that, FLT. It only gets worse, but grandchildren temporarily let you re-live it!

My strongest memory - and there are many - is simply being stunned when we scored the 4th goal and found I was repeating a mantra of "4-0 at Wembley" to my self in a kind of tourette's trance. I would like to apologise now to all who were bloody annoyed by me! 1976 was, of course, very special - not least as it was Man Utd we beat - but the fact that I was older combined with the whole phoenix rising stuff made this something else.

I'm very much looking forward to being an embarrassment to my kids. It's one of the best perks of it , IMO.

I may need to add this to my list of attributes on my CV

One of those perks is embarrassing them when you haven't even tried to

There are many, many forms of this entertaining, parent activity, but without doubt, dancing/singing is number one on that list.

Ha ha ha ha..... Brilliant timing. My wife has just called up to my son to see what he is doing and if he is getting ready for hockey. She asked if he was playing on his tablet to which he said not. I called out to ask if he really wasn't playing on it. He was. I called him through and rather than be cross or shout or tell him off negatively (he knows he mustn't be snatching time on the tablet) I explained that although I am an old fart, I did remember some of my early Padawan training and although I never became a full Jedi, I have some powers of the Force. How else did I know what he was doing.

talk to him in Yoda speak, I even did.

FB not for me...none of my friends do it either. I would be the only person on there without friends, even of the plastic variety. :)

Crazy when you think how that really sparked things off...

    2009/10: JPT win at Wembley
    2010/11: League One promotion
    2011/12: Championship promotion
2012/13: 14th in the Premier League
2013/14: 8th in the Premier League - SFC's best ever PL season
2014/15: 6th in the Premier League - on course to break record season within 12 months, despite 'exodus'

Unbelievable progression, matched by the drive and ambition of the club off-pitch.

Testament to the work of Markus, Katharina, Nicola, Les, Ralph, Ronald, Mauricio, Nigel, Alan and all other staff members. :)

The enduring image of that whole season is Markus's big grin and tiny camera. Unforgettable stuff.
