I think a realistic option for your board would be to sell him to an overseas club in this transfer window.

    Two positives are that
    (1) you get some money for him (especially if there's a bidding war), and let's face it your owners are very commercially/profit focused, as are most owners these days, and
    (2) you don't strengthen a domestic rival. The key thing for you is to get back in the top 4 and compete for the PL title, selling to a foreign team rather than Man City helps you a lot more in that respect.

If you keep him for a year he would probably try hard as he's a grafter, and hopefully would not cause too much commotion behind the scenes, but would likely strengthen a domestic rival in 12 months time. It would be the same story as before where you sell your best player to one of the big PL clubs most years, you had that for a number of years and then it stopped for a bit, the concern is that your players would see that cycle starting again.

Well Wenger should try and keep him first and foremost.

He said he would like to play in Champions League in response to a question (of couse he would say yes). Which the Sun and Sky Sports have interpreted as 'Sanchez begs to leave'.
Its clear the British press(scumbags) are trying to unsettle him just to make a story.

It's foolish on many levels selling him to a direct rival and pointless abroad for a few bob. We stand to gain more even if we lose him for a free. I'm guessing that his output would be greater than anything we would likely bring in to replace him.

Yep, if he won't sign then let him play for one more season and then let him go. Sanchez is the type of player who will give 100% even if he's playing in a 5 a side training game, so we don't need to worry about him being 'out to lunch'.

Also you never know, given another year, if things go well at Arsenal next year, he might just sign that contract. .......

I agree. Never say never. It all depends on our summer transfer window and end of season. Both are interlinked and if we get another top forward then it should show in an improved PL showing.

To be honest I would be happy if Wenger can roll back the years and repeat his early potent attacking teams, whether we win the PL or not.

I hope for your sake he stays, but his comment about his lifelong ambition being to win the CL tells me he's definitely planning on leaving you guys.

That's pretty much a direct shout out to Real, Barca and Bayern that he's keen on a move to one of them, and if it doesn't happen this year then he'll wait to go on a free.

He's 29 years old so this is probably his last chance to move clubs during his peak years, even if you challenge for the title this year and win the EL that's still no guarantee he'll stay.

Of course the cynical (& more realistic) view is that he doesn't really want to move to one of the big 3 above to win the CL, but just wants a massive payrise, so in that case he'll also be targeting Man City or Utd, Chelsea, PSG etc. as secondary options, we'll see what he ends up doing.

Arsenal need to stand firm with this. Keep him at the club even if it means risking losing him on a free. He's worth much more overall to us than anything we could get with the money from selling him. Plenty of players in the past have agitated for a move from their clubs, but their clubs have stood firm and kept them. We haven't done this in the past, but now it is crucial that we do what we have said we will, and keep him

Sanchez can get us back into the Champions League next season, then he has his wishes and at 29 coming up 30, Arsenal might be the best place for him to stay after that.

Show me just one example when a club stood firm and refused to bag 50+ml only to let a top top player below 30 like Alexis on the peak of his form to walk away for free next year.

Disagree. If Sanchez has made it clear that he wants to leave, and with 1 year left, also approaching is 29 birthday. We are not going to be in a position to demand top dollar. I think £40m tops. Which if he stays and helps us get back into the champions league, we'd recoup the majority of anyway. Selling him only weakens us, we do not need the money that badly. I think we need to make a stand and make good on our promise that he is not for sale.

What do City want him as they have Jesus and Aggeuro. We should swap him for Aggeuro if he doesn't want to stay - cash is useless

If the Neymar rumours are true then the price of strikers is about to go up, so glad we got Laca in early :)

Chelsea may catch a cold here and have to keep Costa

you won't sell him to City
god knows why Pep buys some of the players he does. Sure he is a frustrated FM player trying it out in real life.

Laczette , on paper, looks one of the "bargains" of this window. I'm obviously using bargain in the sense of the distorted world of the PL.

Paul Merson talking **** again about how Sanchez is going to leave wether Wenger likes it or not.

Now he was a quality player but I just cant stand the guy. Total ****ing idiot. Never has anything nice to say about the Club. How does a guy with such a low IQ get a job as a pundit?

merson was sold at the beginning of the 1997/8 season, wengers first full season, and we went on to win the double, we replaced merson with overmars, he has always had a chip on his shoulder about that, clearly wenger did not fancy him.

Wenger has come out again and said that Sanchez will be going nowhere. He deserves credit for this, because in the past we've been too quick to cash in to the detriment of the team. We don't need the money that badly. If we get back in the CL then we'll recoup the money anyway, and with Sanchez in the team that is much more likely to happen.

There is so much money coming into football these days from TV and prize money, that the days of Arsenal needing to sell our best players is no longer the case. Sanchez makes us much more likely to win a trophy too, which increases our prize money, and the higher up the league we finish the more we get in the pot too. We simply do not need to sell Sanchez.

Even more than this though, the club need to stick to their principles and not buckle to player power.

Pep has come out today and basically said that they are not in for Sanchez.

"Alexis plays for Arsenal, so Arsene said that [Sanchez will stay]. He knows more than me," the Catalan said.
"We have two really good strikers in Sergio and Gabriel so, in those terms, we are good. It’s not about a striker.
"The problem was, last season, Gabriel was out for a long time and we would like to see both of them together."

Sanchez actually hasnt made it clear he wants to leave.

For all we know he is just playing hardball trying to get a big weekly paycheck. Rumours we offered around 225 per week and he wants closer to 400k.
