They've been backing Gregg's Pipes for the next @ the Curragh even though she's In foal. Ground is a huge plus for her I guess. My one, Turret Rock's is on the slide, I'm thinking of doubling the stake now at such a salubrious price.
Well done Smokey. My 2 were utter ****e. Glaring will win one of these handicaps on the flat this summer though, but I'll probably miss it.
Well done Smokey, good Saturday's work. Whoops, did not realise last 3 races at Cartmel had been abandoned, so it's Titus Secret in the 18:15 Salisbury for my Saturday punt.
Cracking effort from Gregg's Pipes in foal there. Hard to imagine the ground has turned that much with the super weather this week but she relished it and won very nicely. Well done Andrew Slattery and team, he gave a brilliantly honest interview earlier on his runners and nice to see him get his reward. No luck for me though sadly Always another day.
Are the Muppets at ITV racing watching the same races as me? After Sutter County (another Mark Johnston horse making all) won at Goodwood, they made the lamest of excuses for female apprentice jockey Hollie Doyle on runner-up Medahim. According to them it was unlucky in running in a rough race. When the race started, she missed the kick (possibly deliberately) and tucked in at the back of the field on the inside rail. I assumed that she would stay there and hope that the rail opened up late in the race – as it often does at Goodwood – but instead she switched to the outside in the last two furlongs (finding her own traffic trouble) and then moved back to the inside rail in the last half furlong to run on for second. She is an apprentice, so she will make mistakes like that and hopefully learn from them. There was nothing ‘unlucky’ about it. Clearly the Hamdan curse has quickly transferred from Hanagan to Crowley. Last time at Doncaster, Mustarrid was in the van, led with a furlong to go and was caught on the line. Today, Crowley dropped the horse in mid-division (so I knew I had done my money after fifty yards) and allowed the owner’s other horse – from the Mark Johnston yard – to make all and grind the opposition into the turf. If Crowley wants to be Champion Jockey again, he will need to find 20 per cent more winners on outside rides to make up for losing retainer rides.
Cracking cup final. Well done the Arsenal. They did knock the mighty Imps out along the way so they thoroughly deserved it . And well done the ref too. Had the balls to send Moses of for a blatant dive.
