As our season peters out, worth reflecting on what a great job our 'nearly' manager Chris Wilder has done at Sheff Utd. Back to back promotions for him with different clubs. I wonder how he would have fared at our basket case if he had famously agreed to work for Meire without those written guarantees? A tough afternoon in store today for the Addicks, although it has got slightly easier with the news that Lewis Page won't be playing.
Usually a trip I enjoy - Sheffield is always a good night out. Can't see us getting anything, but surprisingly think there could be some value in the bet Don mentions in another thread. 2-0 Sheffield.
Rxpecting a brave defeat, but remembering Bolton away, nothing is ever simple with us and maybe an early goal and some Sheffield promotion nerves might get us something. Which will obviously make this a fantastic season 3-2 Sheffield
CHARLTON | Rudd, Byrne, Bauer, Teixeira, Chicksen, Ulvestad, Konsa, Forster-Caskey, Holmes (c) Novak, Watt. #cafc
Can't see us getting anything from this one. Apparently we played well in the second half on Tuesday, so I expect a narrow 2-1 defeat. I've not yet

A decent first half of end to end football so far. We hit the bar when 1-0 up (nice free kick from Holmes), they had a stonewall penalty turned down at 1-1 Nice to be back at a stadium with a proper Championship atmosphere and attendance today
We're under the cosh Byrne and Chicksen look increasingly shaky. Backs to the wall second half I expect
A decent first 20 mins, but once again we come away potless. Once United worked out our weaknesses, particularly at full back where we were woeful today, the result was never really in much doubt. We made a game of it up until half time, but basically ran out of legs and ideas in the second half. We badly miss Solly's quality at the back. Byrne and Chicksen are poor defenders. In the middle we relied heavily on Ricky Holmes, who was our MOM and must be thinking if he fancies another 12 months in this league with Charlton. Up front we were very slow and ponderous. Novak was taking some stick in our end, and Watt did very little. Botaka, Crofts and de Silva came on towards the end to no real avail, I still think we will nick the 6/7 points we need to stay up, but what a desperately poor underachieving season this has been. Credit to Sheff Utd - a decent slick passing side. Also nice to be in a stadium with a 20,000 plus crowd in it.
