Interesting news. SKY sports have been losing subscribers and one of the reasons, according to them is because clubs with big followings like Newcastle and Villa were not in the Premier League and 'lesser' clubs were. Until they can manipulate which clubs make up the Premier League, and I doubt if that includes the likes of Hull City, subscriptions for the Sports Channels will be slashed from £49.50 a month to £18 but you will only get three channels.
No, Sky viewership has been falling because they've got so much less stuff. That team analogy is complete bollocks, and honestly insulting football fans. And nobody wants to pay that ****ing much for average at best coverage when they can just go on kodi or similar for **** all.
Your probably right quill however I can imagine the pl not wanting teams like us in it because we are a small club. You only have to look at Leeds, at one point a few seasons ago I thought sky sports 1 had been renamed lutv they were on that much. I don't watch as much football as I did simply because of all the diving it's got to the point it's embarrassing and has spoilt my love for the game
I remember the blokes we stood with at City laughing when I said I paid for Sky. Says it all really. Not paying for it this summer; no Ashes cricket just loads of bloody Rugby.
Most of the SKY money is made abroad / far east ... perhaps trying to feign interest in their premier & supporting products ?
That's the thing - one of the few rights Sky still has is the EFL! They're just full of ****e. Though we really shouldn't be surprised after all these years. They're owned by Rupert Murdoch for ****s' sake.
Indeed, the product really is ****e. I suppose 'smaller clubs' are to blame for falling in stadia attendances too...
It just bores me BCC. There's to much fear of losing and losing money. I can very rarely watch a full match. I prefer to watch MOTD.
The price of the full Sky Sports package isn't actually going to change, it will still be almost £50 a month. What's changing, is the breaking up of sports into individual channels, one for football, one for golf, one for cricket and one for tennis/rugby, in the same way that they have a dedicated F1 channel now. You'll be able to buy the individual sport channels for much less than the total package you have to buy now, they'll start at £18 a month, but that's unlikely to include the football. Sky might claim that their problem is big teams getting relegated and viewer number dropping, but in reality, the problem is that it's lost a third of the Premier League games and the Champions League and it's simply not worth the money now.
Can't recall the last time I watched an EPL game live that didn't involve us. I couldn't have less interest in it to be fair.
I thought it was more than that My full package, although it included movies, was getting on for £90 a month when I cancelled it, and that was without multiroom I'd cancelled before so was actually paying around £45, but cancelled when it went up to full price They're currently offering me 60% off to come back
The full package with movies and everything is more than that, but Sky Sports alone is £49.50 a month.
