I see Matty scored again. Bad news for us - Fulham will begin to see what Cotts saw in him a few months back and will either keep hold of him or put his price up out of our reach. Bet he scores against us next season if Fulham stay up too!!
Question one is, will he prefer Fulham to Bristol City ? Question two, will he keep them up ? Question three, will he want to stay there when Fulham have to sell half their team ? Question four, will someone offer a large sum of moneys for him elsewhere ? and Question five, is he on any sort of long term contract ?
Only one I know is I believe he's one year into a three year contract. But like you I believe he would stay with them, but would be nice to sign him and his mate McCormack.
I don't think JET will be on the team sheet based on his usage by SC this season and it's time for him to move on to his next employer.
I maybe in the minority here but unless we sign him for a bargain price and used him as an alternative striker I'm not sure I'd be interested.. Having a target man changes our game and I know he did really well for us, but it hasn't stopped us scoring loads of goals has it? He's a good player but I find him a little to predictable and so I'd prefer to spend our pennies on more of play to feet striker.
It was noticeable that Jet didn't even get a run out yesterday and his contract is up in the summer, my guess is he isn't going to sign again and Cotts probably won't use him again.. shame really, imagine how good he could be if he was really fit.
'shame really, imagine how good he could be if he was really fit' For me it's more about what mood he's in, and so not sure about him in the Championship. Have to say I've loved watching him this season. As for who we get in, I'm content to leave it with SC.
In my opinion Smith ticked all these boxes. He scored goals with his feet (even with back-heels) as well as being a useful target-man. I have to hold my hand up and admit that I was not impressed with him in the first couple of appearances he made for us, but he turned my opinion around and I would definitely welcome him back as a City player. Also, his departure didn't stop us scoring because we had Wilbs back from injury. I'm not sure if Wilbs will be able to sustain his scoring in the championship without needing time off, whereas Smith has youth on his side.
I judged Wade Elliott after 1 game and was proved hideously wrong. When Matt Smith started with us I chose instead to listen to Cotterill. He said something like 'Smith is a big lump and needs games'. I know Cotterill got it wrong with El Abd but come on guys he's allowed one mistake. I still have doubts about Agard and Fielding, but Cotterill rates them so I'm hoping like hell to be proved wrong again.
The JET problem is potentially a simple one. A small contract with a generous goal and appearance bonus. If his form dips, he sits on the bench. I reckon he'd be willing to sign if it meant staying in the Championship and being able to prove himself.
