So we have - Southampton Bournemouth Brighton Maybe Reading And maybe Portsmouth too (in 20 or so years time from now) All In the Premier League So this is proof that the South Coast can make football big time yeah?
With global warming Portsea Island will be under two metres of water which is a most attractive thought.
I have just thought of something else funny (other than Pompey) Puel = LiverPuel sounds like Liverpool Get it?
If Reading are south cost then the south coast has had a bloody brilliant season. What with Chelsea winning the league and spurs coming second. Then there are 2 south coast clubs in the FA cup final too!
Don't think so .....He does know Van dick though................ Err...........Have I spelt that wrong?............
What is this geographical entity called "the South Coast"? I know I left Southampton for London 35 years ago, but I don't ever recall describing or thinking of myself as being from the South Coast. I grew up in Southampton which is on the South Coast, but I have no affinity with people from Brighton, Bournemouth*, Littlehampton or Swanage. Those were placed you went to on holiday, as exotic and distant in their way as Puerto Banus or Benidorm. I was aware of something called "portsmouth", but that was normally looked on as a place best avoided. * sorry @thereisonlyoneno7
As the Fishbourne car ferry was diverted to the International Port when I returned from holiday, I had a lovely view of Portsmouth Harbour. Sadly much nicer than Southampton....good mixture of modern and historic with naval history for good measure.
Much as I feel obliged to be rude about Portsmouth, anyone taking a ferry from there can't help but be impressed by the history and drama of it's naval dockyards. Not to mention the enormously impressive Palmerston forts looking down on the place from the hills above.
