WBA have been a real bogey team at The Lane in recent seasons... Spurs 5-1 WBA Kane x3, Alli, Eriksen.
This week’s offering is an adaptation of a Caribbean song, which actually originated (I believe) among the West Indian community in New York. You may need to refer to the original to catch the style and the rhythm – and the irregular word-count, come to that! I’m hoping at least BajanSpur will know it/like it…. In fact, I’m relying on you for some support, BS. There are different versions of the words (even of the title!) so I’ve mashed one or two together, and reduced it to three verses before re-wording it. Don’t go for the Harry Belafonte, Harry Nilsson, or Kingston Trip versions. This version is my favourite – although I think I first saw it sung on tv in the sixties – maybe by Nadia Catouse? (ok – I know - before your time, most of you, but be patient, and enjoy this bit of Caribbean fun)…… It’s called Joomby Jamboree, or Back to Back, Belly to Belly! Written by Conrad Eugene Mauge, jr. Joomby = Zombie (although this is disputed – maybe Moko Jumbie?). Enough! The song… Baggie Jamboree There’ll be a Baggie Jamboree At White Hart Lane on Saturday There’ll be a Baggie Jamboree At White Hart Lane on Saturday Baggies from the west of the Midlands, Some of them is drivin’ their white vans! We’ll make this season a Carnival - We’ll get together and have a ball! We’ll be singin’ - Toby’s back, Moussa Dembele, More goals for Kane, and two more for Delle Watch it live, or watch it on telly, See our Baggie Jamboree! We know that Pulis parks his bus - He thinks that he can outwit us! But now he manages West Brom He doesn’t know where goals is comin’ from! Can Chadli score a goal this time? Will Berahino stay in line? You know it’s true what I say today: Spurs score whenever we start to play! Toby’s back, Moussa Dembele, etc And now the game is gettin’ sweet When Sissoko plays two to Harry’s feet And Dele score a couple to warn Sayin’, “Pulis, take care, I’m in great form! Last week you went out in Round Three, You lost 2-1 to Derby County! Even more goals you’ll give away here!” So the Baggies fade – it’s a blue New Year! Toby’s back, Moussa Dembele, etc Prediction: Spurs 5 WBA 1 Scorers: Kane 2 Dele 2 Walker 1 Cheers, Spurf!
