Sunderland resume their Barclays Premier League campaign on Saturday with a trip to the Britannia Stadium (KO 3pm). The Black Cats weren’t in action last weekend due to Arsenal’s FA Cup involvement at Wembley Stadium, and they will be desperate to banish any memories of a disappointing defeat to Crystal Palace last time out when they take on Stoke City. Last weekend’s round of Barclays Premier League matches also saw the chasing pack register points and close the gap with Leicester City notching a 2-0 win over Swansea City, and with just six points separating the bottom six the Black Cats will be looking to pull clear with three points in the Potteries. It won’t be easy however with Stoke looking to extend their unbeaten run to three games following a 1-1 draw with West Ham United and a 2-1 win over Southampton. Mark Hughes’ side are also chasing down their record points tally in the Barclays Premier League and a top eight finish with one point separating the Potters and eighth–placed Swansea. The Black Cats will however take positives from the last meeting between the two sides which saw the Lads earn three points on Wearside thanks to a Steven Fletcher double. Connor Wickham was also on the scoresheet that day and after netting a late consolation against Crystal Palace the forward will be looking to end the current campaign as he did the last. One player who will not be able to make an impact on the pitch is Sebastian Larsson who is serving the second game of a two-match ban after reaching ten yellow cards for the season. Wes Brown, Ricky Alvarez and Emanuele Giaccherini also remain unavailable due to injury, but the head coach states Brown is making good progress in his recovery from a knee injury. Stoke also have a number of selection concerns with Marc Muniesa, Victor Moses and Bojan expected to miss the remainder of the campaign. But Saturday’s game could see the return of Peter Odemwingie who is back in training following an eight-month spell in the treatment room. Intrigued at how we'll set up what with all the talk of new tactics and formations. Wouldn't like to guess the starting line up. Looking forward to this now after an extended cool off. Seems to be case of will we implode or not? If we don't we're in a shot of a draw or even three points.
Great match thread as usual. Like any away game I'de take a point now and be delighted with 3. This will be a tough one unless they are on the beach already - going for a draw.
Not a great side, little pace and weak at the back. Little else in reserve. Not hard to see why we are where we are. Cannot see much chance here

I'm getting picked up at 5am tomorrow ready to catch the Mega Bus from Park Lane to Manchester at 0605am...Train from there arriving at Stoke for about 10am...Full English breakfast and then heading to a pub called The Terrace for about 11am..They run a bus service direct to the ground which comes at about 1420 getting us to the ground at just after half past..
Enjoy mate and bring the ****ing 3 points back, sod the brekkie Send your lad your best from me, Im sure he will remember me, most people do
Can't make this, summat called work has gotten in the way ...... stinks! Good luck to anyone going, have a great day and hopefully one to remember. No idea what is happening at Sunderland, I have so little respect for the players. If they were as dedicated & passionate as the support we'd be flying ........ Haway Sunderland!!!!!!!!!
It's hard to be optimistic about this game with the way we played against Palace, I hope we'll be able to scrape a point or better which could happen with Stoke having nothing left to play for but in truth I expect us to get beat, Stoke are a good side and a tough nut to crack at home. You never know the lads might actually start to realise that we're in a relegation battle and start fighting for the club, which would be nice.
Hopefully all the bottom teams lose or draw and there for we won't be in the bottom 3. Johnson to get the Winner LOL haway the lads
