Just seen that too on Twitter: Not very inspired by this, if true. Rather use one of our own kids as a back up.
Even if that's true. It uses up a loan slot. He didn't exactly set the world alight on loan at Bristol Rovers. I think Efete would provide as good cover.
The logic is somewhat twisted, but perhaps it's better to have a Chelsea youngster sat on our bench, so our own youth can go out on loan and get minutes? Suspect that wouldn't exactly endear us to Chelsea though! Godfrey can play CB if necessary, but comments from those at the early pre-season friendlies seem to suggest he's better as a DM.
Yes, he had been deployed there for the under 23s, but I think our new recruits seemed to acquit themselves well in pre-season.
£3m? £3 effing M?? That is almost as derisory as our initial bid for Robbie Brady when he joined from Hull £6m I could hack, but anything less and we might as well keep him, for reasons well documented recently, i.e. work rate, injury free, reading of the game, etc. http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/fulham-step-up-hunt-norwich-13374940
I don't care what his wages are, there is no way we could let him go for that to a direct rival for promotion next season. A 16-20 goal striker surely has to be worth more. Couple that with the speculation that Forest who probably won't be challenging for promotion supposedly offered £6m and it can't happen, can it? Bah!
"Which Fulham see key for promotion this season" If we sell him, especially for any less than 6M (I'd be p*ssed off if it was only 6) then it shows the boards mindset. We can't keep selling key players to league rivals, making the strong teams stronger. Surely this is nonsense?
Tell them to "go away sexually". No way should we sell him to a direct rival except for an exorbitant fee, and even then only when we have a top class replacement lined up.
Surely this can only be wild, fabricated bullshit? Why would we be serious about selling Oliveira to a potential top 6 rival with rumours about Jerome circulating at the same time? I know we have Watkins and, ahem, Naismith but from what I've seen they are not players in The NO / CJ mould. Any team that is seriously thinking about parting with either / both their only two orthodox (and relatively proven, at this level) strikers less than 2 weeks before a new season deserves exactly what's coming to them. http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2017/07/2...ch-city-boss-pulled-plug-on-nelson-oliveiras/
I've been complimentary of CJ in the past, as he is an absolute athlete and a workhorse, but he is not worth £6m+ of anyones money. The reason he has scored so many for your lot is because of the sheer number of chances he is given and still manages to score 1 in 10 of them. Though I do think you'd be better off selling and bringing in a replacement.. There are plenty of strikers who can 'put in a shift' for £3m and will probably bring a better goal return whilst being considerably younger than CJ.
Yes, I know it is. But it's out there and in the absence of other football activity to discuss, I thought I'd highlight it. Plus it showcases my copy & paste skills nicely
