Sunderland's players have held clear-the-air talks this week over their dismal season start.

Winless Sunderland already find themselves in a perilous situation, eight games in they are yet to taste victory.

Steven Pienaar says there has been a positive reaction in training since after the playing squad opened up to one another about the dismal start.

“When you lose a game, you are upset," Pienaar told the Sunderland Echo.

“We all know the situation, we had our own get together and spoke about the issues we have as a team and what we need to do to get out of this situation.

“Everyone is open-minded and we sat there and cleared the air – hopefully it will help us to move on. It was something the players did themselves.

“When you lose games like this, you are letting a lot of people down – the club and supporters.

“We are the first ones to take responsibility and we thought it was good to just sit down and face each other and open up about the situation. It was honest. Honesty is what we need. We can't hide behind things. What we are doing, it has not been working for us.

“We need to get out of it and work together as a team."

I think this is part of our resurgence -DM has just blamed media for the excessive expectations and pressures -
The DOF has weighed in - maybe just maybe the "management are starting to sing from similar hymn sheets
    Onwards and KTF

Talks cheap i'll believe it when they start doing it on the pitch, they can start tomorrow if they like.

Stories like this and rally cries from senior players to the local newspaper happen every time we're on a bad run. Less talking to newspapers and more being drilled to cut out mistakes is what is needed as far as i can see.

Like others have said let's wait and see what happens on matchday, if I did everything I said I was going to then life would be very different for me.

It's good to know that they care, or at the very least care enough to pretend to care.

Agreed. It's all just so much PR bullshit until we see it on the pitch!

Fan positivity and support needed for tomorrow but that will soon be in very short supply if we are let down by poor play

The last crisis ended when we avoided (or failed to win) relegation. This is a brand new crisis and, as far as I can see, the best one yet.
