The best of luck to him because I think he, unlike some others I could mention, acted in the proper fashion during his time at Ashton Gate. Good guys win.
(Swans fan) Good to hear. Some posts (elsewhere) have painted him as a bit of a loose canon which is why Chelsea didn't want to go to Newcastle (unlike saintly Bristol and Swansea) Did he strike you as a player who could step up?
Most certainly can step up. IMO he would be even better alongside a player like Llorente as a two, but not many teams play that anymore? He is still not the finished article physically but very skilful and will def score goals for you mostly inside the 6 yard box. I liked him and wish him well. hope he may return one day when we can muster ourselves up to his destined level preferably.
everytime he goes home he will pass ASHTON GATE and say to himself..if only I hadn't missed a weeks or a couple of chances I could have been top dog in the Championship ...
Without Tammy we'd be playing the likes of Scunthorpe again this season. I believe he can and will step up, and he seems mature and level headed way beyond his years.
Not sure where the 'loose cannon' label came from, unless it refers to the crash he had in an uninsured Mercedes belonging to his mate? On the pitch and in the dressing room he seemed sound.
His recent goal v Germany for the U21's was a tap in copy of twenty tap in goals for Bristol City. He has obvious physical attributes along with a good touch, but its his movement that makes all these tap ins. He plays off players shoulders but pulls off so they cannot see man and ball, he sometimes will stand still allowing the game to move on so space comes to him to make runs from, and he will position himself between the centre half and full back so as soon as the full back moves forward he is in space, all leading to runs into positions of opportunity and goals. You do not score that many from that close to goal by accident. He is an intelligent player who scored 20+ goals in a poor team. Yes he looks like he will step up, getting away from Ashton Gate is a step up he has earned via performances..
He has the ability in spades, and as Clifton said he finds space in the box where he has no right too. Don't go expecting 20 yard screamers from him as that is not his strength. He lacks some physical presence which he needs to work on, he got knocked off the ball a lot. I'm interested to see if he can play a full season in the Prem, personally I think he needed one more year in the Championship - but 26 goals in a struggling side should rightly earn you a shot at a higher level and I hope he takes it.
Is he good enough yet to step up to the Premiership, only time will tell, personally I think another season in the Championship with one of the favourites to get promoted would have been more beneficial to his career, nothing worse than a young talent stuck on the bench twiddling his toes.
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like we need to upgrade our midfield and wide players (we need to anyway). Good luck next season. Crying shame there is no Premier League football in Bristol.
Looking forward to seeing a tap in in a full England shirt. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41848591
As I said in the original thread he seems like a genuinely nice guy who plays the game as intended and I wish him well for his international full debut.
