I'm just going to lock myself away in the house and hide under the bed every time Saints play from now on
I didn't intend it to be this way, but I joined the Ramblers and found many like-minded people who kept their smartphones notifying them about Saints progress on a Saturday. By the time the walk had ended and we were in the pub, we were either smiling because that had been good fun and we'd got out reward in pints, and/or we had wider smiles due to Saints winning. I joined them about 4 years ago, and we have mostly been wearing our wider smiles come 5pm on a Saturday.
I appreciate that I'm too late to be included in the myriad of well-wishers who wanted to add their names to Helen's card to Claude, but I'd still like to whole-heartedly concur with the sentiment, in any of the languages chosen. As a separate, but intrinsically linked topic, when is this fabled 'Showdown meeting', when the Saints board either pull the rug from under Claude's feet, give him a ringing endorsement, or aim somewhere between the two, asking for improvements, but offering assistance (aka money for players)? If Claude leaves/is asked to leave, this will be a public end to the tenure of our latest manager. If the board say 'Stay, at least for a while', will we, the fans, ever get to hear about it? Will the scope for continued speculation rumble on and on, into the summer/next season/beyond? Still, it makes for interesting times.
Excuse me young man! I am not kilogrammitcally challenged.... .... I'm the correct weight for someone else's height
While I realise this is in jest, I did wonder whether we should publish an open letter in, say, the Echo. Could we also post it to L'Equipe? Sorry. Not trying to hijack the brilliant Helen's idea, but maybe a wider audience should see what we are saying. Thoughts, please, fellow Saints. I know sack all about the Echo, not living down South, so might be a totally crap idea.
Who said that was in jest... Seriously though, would be sensible to ensure he does get it and to show to the world not all saints fans are disrispectful. Nothing stopping Helen from doing both, that way the personal sentiment remains.
But, what if he signs a new four year deal, then the open letter gets published, 'thanks for 8th, and a real lack of excitement in our home games, and like a minus 25 turnaround in GD from last season.' He might think this job is too easy and skip pre-season!
NO, NO. The spirit of the letter is that Saints fans want to distance themselves from the ****ers. There is a lot to thank him for, and we expect him to build. Surely that is axiomatic?
Can I just say that it's axiomatic that folk never use words like axiomatic on football message boards? It indicates an educated poster with a wide vocabulary, and opinions worth noting - sorry if I am coming across as grotesquely obsequious, by the way.
Ok so your a baccalaureate of words........Now can we get back to pure old fashioned bloody english..........
