No I am not. It is just a shame you can't grasp putting or means they are called both.

"or Fries, as they are now known."
This means they are now called fries.

Castro or Barchullona, as he is now known, is a twat.

    Hope that helps?

I do concede that I will never be as big a twat as Mr Hatem though.

We are in Dubai in November and intend to spend a few days further east, perhaps Singapore or Hong Kong. Any experiences of both of those, or any alternatives, would be appreciated. Ta.

Went to Dubai with work for a week last year. Thought I'd hate it cos I despise Vegas and expected it to be just like that, but for some reason I did like Dubai. It's all shiny metal and glass and built on sand - both figuratively and literally - but it does have a certain charm. I went in Jan so it was nice weather, around 25 degrees, but in summer I've heard its unbearable. Beware - beer was £8 a pint, my expenses didn't go far...

Edit - oh wait, did you mean experiences of Singapore or Hong Kong? If so I haven't been. Cue Lambo...

I have been to both of those cities. What in particular are you looking for? and what do you want to avoid?

...and I concede you are a much bigger twat than me.
Maybe there should be a poll?

My daughter works in Dubai so been twice. Fabulous place, and as she knows where to go for exceptional food and gets loads of massive discount offers through her work it works out quite cheap. Public transport is ridiculously cheap, £2.00 for a 20 minute taxi ride and the metro is around £2.00 return for a 15 mile round trip. Cleanest and safest place I've ever visited.
On our next visit we were thinking of a few days in the Maldives but would prefer Singapore, maybe Hong Kong.

Looking for 3-4 days city break, expecting both will give us new experiences. Singapore looks to be more open and cosmopolitan, we don't particularly want noisy and cramped.

Then Singapore will suit your needs more.

I think you'll find both are fairly noisy, there are a lot of similarities between the two, both being former colonies. I'm no expert on Singapore, but I believe it's a bit cleaner than Hong Kong and a little less frenetic, though I'd recommend that anyone who's never been to Hong Kong should go at least once.

If you do decide to go, I can give you a few pointers.

We were probably leaning towards Singapore, and based on yours and Mr. H's comments will very likely go there. Will be back on here for recommendations once we've booked.

And then a second poll if the vote doesn't go the right way?

I think we're united on this one Castro. This blokes a grade a twat.
Seemed to be alright for long enough then the last few months has gradually morphed into bengals.
