The "All British Club" Bar

I tend to use the sections of the site differently. When I joined (under the original ST), GC was a wild place full or hardcore porn and some other very dodgy material. Believe it or not the top man himself, MalteseMick, wasn't above posting some well dodgy stuff including on one occasion a picture of maggots eating a man's brain!

It was basically anything goes unlike the sanatised GC that exists today.

I use the Celtic board to talk about football and to wind up the Huns (Rangers fans) and Huns-lite (UserName1882).

And on the tennis board I'm a true gentleman

 

ST, all sounds fair enough. The only problem I now have with GC is that I often see topics I'd like to comment on but I know it usually decends deep into the smelly stuff. I don't think there is an excuse for that now being as you have your own uncut version. It's like posters act up where they know it will cause offence. I am aware that Mick is himself an offender but I agree there should be a place where this is acceptable. Some of it I find mildly amusing but (and this is just my opinion) some of the Gary Speed stuff was way out of order.

Username, debate is always welcome on the tennis forum even if it is hatred of Andy Murray, everyone's opinion is valid but the old BBC tennis forum was riddled with anti English/Scottish threads and I suspect other forums still are. It would be nice to have a multitude of different threads based on tennis. How many times have we heard the comment "Murray hates the English/English football team so why should I support him", sound familliar?

 

Hope to see all tennis fans in here tomorrow evening to celebrate (hopefully) Andy's win!! There will be no happy hour, it'll be a happy evening so free drinks in the bar for all.

I actually forgot it was on! Wasn't until I caught the Scottish news before heading off to work that I learned he had won.

Sounds from reports like he was a bit complacent in the first set but then he was up against a hughly-rated and up and coming young player and I believe it was rather warm.

Next up is the slippery sounding Edouard Roger-Vasselin. I'll get my coat.

Glad I'm not the only one who sometimes forgets Andy is playing!

I was so tired and bet365 was playing up, which is unusual.

I don't know what happened to Andy during the first set....but he improved as the match went on.

Ryan Harrison seems very good. It was a tough first round for Andy.

I didn't make it to the end of the match. Once I was fairly confident Andy would win I went to bed.

I didn't get up till 11.00am then I dragged myself off to the gym, it was hard work today.

Having less than 8 hours solid sleep doesn't agree with me. I might not be seeing much of Andy, this AO.

Anyway...he's through to the next round

 

I caught the middle 2 sets this morning whilst getting ready for work. I was never in serious doubt Andy way gonna take the match but then I didn't see the first set. Heard he had won it on the radio news a couple of hours later. Go Andy!!!

I'll be back in the bar later this evening if anyone would like to join me for a celebratory

Yes, I am enjoying my two weeks off work, it's nice to recharge my batteries at this time of year.

I'm still busy doing other things tho', so I don't think I can afford to lose much sleep watching Andy.

I often find it better not to watch him.....it's less stressful lol

Anyway, he's playing Roger Vaseline on Thursday....I'll post up the time when I find out.
