There was an interesting debate yesterday on Talksport.

Jim White the presenter advocating that alcohol should be banned at all sporting venues in the UK. His argument being you shouldn't have to have a drink to enjoy a good day out and there always seems to be one or two who overindulge and spoil it for the rest. Apparently alcohol is unavailable at all Scottish football stadiums both before during and after the matches, something I was unaware of.

Personally I think banning alcohol would be ridiculous and unfair to the clubs. Why should they miss out on additional revenue that would simply be passed onto the pubs/bars close to the stadium.

Also could you imagine a day at the races without enjoying some fine liquid refreshments.

From a personal point of view I usually drive to ER so don't have a beer. Occasionally though I'll go on the train and then into town after and it's always a good day out.

How would you feel if you went to a match/event and you were only allowed 2 beers for example. Personally I'd be absolutely livid as I believe it's my basic human right to drink myself to oblivion if I so desire and face the consequences of my actions should I not be able to handle my ale.

 

It should be banned for anyone posting on here. Chesh has to be pissed when posting here. No other explanation.

Jim White is talking pish. Always has had & is the subject of ridicule even to this day, after his stint at STV. True, you can't drink during the match. Bars all close. But you can before & after. Can't remember what happened at half time the last time I drank. Literally. Never, ever listen to that bigoted idiot.

I need a drink before watching Leeds, too stressful otherwise. Agree though, if I have too much I do miss a lot of what is happening.
