Ian Brown looks a proper tit these days. Went to see them last year and enjoyed it, more for the nostalgia than anything but he still looks a monkey. Chimp faced mother ****er.
To be fair, Ian Brown never could sing live, so at least they haven't got any worse. I saw the Happy Mondays a couple of years ago in Leeds, they're still really good live (the support was Inspiral Carpets, who were terrible).
In your opinion. In my opinion, there are bands and artists today that are much better than bands from the past.
I don't doubt that you could but as to whether these bands and artists of today will still be revered and still command respect, as Bowie has just rightfully been respected, decades after their initial appearance on the music scene I doubt that I will ever find out.
Can't say I'm that bothered about hero-worship and mass appeal tbh. I'm almost certain that some of my favourite bands/artists will only be a footnote in music history, if that. On another note, how many people who 'respect' Bowie do you think have listened to all of Bowie's albums from start to finish? I get the feeling people just jump on the bandwagon to look cool amongst their peers and his recent death has increased that. I'm not a Bowie fan and I'll admit I've only listened to a few of his albums; I don't intend to listen to his others as his music isn't to my taste.
To be fair, most actors don't get much of a look in, as Film/TV companies stick to the tried and tested.
I'm sure. A mate of mine is respected worldwide but works as a butcher by day. Very very few make enough to say they're making a living.
Are you suggesting that people in the industry can't be passionate? The underground dance music scene is full of people who are.
