Now for Harmer, as a spinner!, to bowl a no-ball in the PP. Opposite to the Glamorgan game so far. Very quiet start, followed by much quicker scoring.
As is Bailey. Surrey get Finch, Middlesex McCullum yet we end up with a leg spinner well past his best and a mediocre Australian batsman.
We have absolutely no middle order without Dawson. They're either too old, or too rubbish. As expected, McManus' innings vs Glamorgan was a total fluke.
Drop McManus, give Alsop the gloves and bring in Adams. McManus is not good enough behind the stumps like Bates was to justify staying in the team.
"Boom Boom" is is more like "Put Put"...will Hants have the bottle to drop him (down the order or altogether) if his poor form continues with the bat?.
A bit like Saints, there always has to be a fall guy!.... Wheater getting stick from the Essex fans apparently.
For a little while now they've actually been behind us in the comparison. But then we lost Vince, and it all went wrong.
Not sure if that was worse than last night or not. I will continue to bang the 'Wood for Berg' drum, but that clearly won't resolve the issue with our middle order. We need Afridi's bowling (even if batting at no.11), so he can't make way. But that still leaves Bailey and McManus vulnerable. Jimmy has got to be close to getting a go. (Ervine equally did little when he was available, so I'm not sure his return to fitness - whenever that may be - will mean anything)
