Compton out. 2 for 2 9n four overs. If Middlesex are going into a shell, this title is Yorkshire's . Their batsmen need to take the attack to Yorkshire as their batsmen/bowlers did to them. This is shameful Middlesex.
Warks have somewhat been forced into a declaration. Yes, you would think it won't cost them the draw, but clearly there is more chance of them losing now than there would have been if they'd carried on batting. But with the risk of us beating Durham, Warks have had to slightly gamble - too much of a chance that Lancs would block their way to a draw otherwise. Ultimately though, you are still expecting Warks to win.
Is this guy Brooks going on a winter tour? Some reckon he is the best uncapped seam bowler in the county game. Who needed Bairstow when their lower order struck the Middlesex bowling attack to all parts of Lords. Yorkshire must have been possessed by el diablo after their crushing defeat to Somerset and also a great team spirit.
Pretty embarrassing display from Hants today. Firstly, they let Durham get 360 which was quite frankly inexcusable and then collapse to 108/6.
One Lancs wicket down (Although in reality, that game probably now has no bearing on us. Struggling to see how our game is going to finish a draw now)
Durham made 189 and 136 in their two innings at Taunton recently. Not that our spinners are the same quality of Somerset's.
Still got 15 overs left today, including this one. Three an over is a lead of 230 at the close. No point declaring at that stage. The game would be over comfortably before the end of tomorrow, either because Durham would have reached their target or we'd have bowled them out. Durham are hardly going to score so slowly that they bat out the day without scoring 230. Needing a whole day (or more) to bowl Durham out is only important if we have a lead of 300 (or more). Which we won't have by the close today, not by a long way.
I think some of you are being a bit ott here, Hampshire had to go for it when they started their 2nd innings given the game situation, the loss of time due to rain this morning and what was happening elsewhere. Going for it also raises the risk of losing your wicket and it hasnt gone their way today unfortunately . The game is far from over though and we may still do it. Mind you they cant expect to escape by the skin of heir teeth every season !
