If the top three are all gone before Somerset reach 100, I would make us favourites. Their middle order, despite looking alright on paper, has been awful so far this season. But any of these top three (well, clearly not Treco now!) are capable of anchoring Somerset home.
You're more than welcome to bowl full tosses, Mason, when you follow them by knocking out the stumps with a ripper!
I guess I would take Hildreth and Davies in exchange for Elgar at this point. One extra wicket than I was aiming for, but Elgar not yet removed. Tough to weigh up, because Elgar could yet play a match-winning innings. But we're one wicket closer to winning, and in theory could just look to continue taking wickets at the other end.
Now the focus could be on the fact that rain is due from about 3pm, and isn't scheduled to disappear until sometime tomorrow. That's about 90 mins to take 4 wickets.
It was just a question of who was getting the 5 wicket haul. Glad it was Crane. Crane was poor at Taunton last year which cost us. It is vital to have two spinners working in tandem on this pitch and Mason and Liam were outstanding today. And lets not forget Kyle with his 4 wickets in the first innings AND the vital runs he made.
