Anyone have any ideas on the race this Saturday? I don't know too much about the quality of the field, so I'm having trouble lining up the locals v the visitors. I suppose Mustajeeb looks to be the best of the locals, if bookies are on top of things. They have Brazen Beau as the favoured runner ahead of the Weld trained, course and distance winner Mustajeeb. It seems as though the locals have written off the second of the Oz visitors Wandjina. I don't know if it usually the case, but it seems exceptionally hard to win at Ascot this year. The winners appear to as tough as old teak. Maybe to get away with the 6F event this year, the victor might need to have had experience at up to a mile. This is what worries me about Brazen Beau. This trip, at Flemington and he's amazing, but here??? I don't know. The more I think about the race, the more I'm beginning to think Wandjina, at any old price, has a real shot.
Poor group 1 sprints this week. The 3yo one today looks the best of the three. This looks like the Group 3 race it used to be. Wandjina may be the one and the Irish one you've mentioned and Brazen Beau are looking the most likely.
This Brazen Beau must be very good, but I'll take Mustajeeb and Tropics in a difficult sprint to figure out.
