Fine, if you're allowed to see this shiny new 'better' house, but you're not!...

    It's 'trust me, it's better'

What you mean, Pete, is it wasn't working for you!?...

And, of course, if it's not good for you, it can't be good for the country overall?..

That analogy is fair, but he should have added the line that the reason you're being told you should sell in the first place is that there's some Eastern Europeans who've moved in next door and you'd better scarper before the area goes down the pan <laugh>

This analogy assumes a clean cut from the current relationship is possible while in reality you've had a bunch of kids with your ex and you still need to sort out access and maintenance.

The "better" house hasn't been built yet and their are no architect drawings.

But you sell your house and commit to the buyer that you will move out once your new house has been designed and built.

Although as long as it has at least two kitchens who cares what the rest of it is like?

The referendum is not a commitment though, the government could say "**** it" and stay in the EU if they want.
The referendum has no power whatsoever, the government are not legally bound to comply with its result.
They should, and probably will, because they will go down as the most chicken ****, undemocratic government in UK history if they dont, but the referendum is not a commitment.
Saying Brexit means Brexit, doesn't mean ****, until we invoke Article 50 , we are in the EU, whether the other member states like it or not.

Government confirms plans to repeal Human Rights Act

Justice Secretary Liz Truss has told MPs the Government plans to repeal the Human Rights Act but will not withdraw from the European Convention on Human Rights.

    Whats peoples views on this?

I think its a good idea, if the new act is still robust, as the present one is a criminals charter, i.e. cant deport them so easy

    But they can!
I really hope they dont, it will lead to riots and all sorts of **** and they should respect the wishes of the majority, thats what democracy is!
But it is not legally binding, thats a fact.

But it can and likely will be worse, certainly in the short term at least. Even May has admitted that ffs.

I read the words rather than the authoe. They show that the Government have a strate and that plans are developed and developing.

Which goes back to my previous point. At what point will the populous consider that "Brexit means Brexit" has actually been delivered?

So would there be riots if we left the EU but retained our single market status with free movement remaining?

That's a daft thing to say. It's not like Britain was in the toilet. Or are you just referring to immigration?

Thats what I am hoping for.
Not the riots, but the free movement thing.
Never had a problem with free movement.

What i see happening, hopefully, is us leaving the EU, keeping Single market status, and a variation of free movement being announced with some really convoluted caveat that doesn't mean a damn thing but sounds good to the xenophobes and will placate them.

The governments first priority in negotiations with the EU will be the end of free movement. The second priority will be access to the single market.
