I was thinking this morning another good reason to qualify for europa is the tv coverage is pretty good - ITV so can watch all the games and saints season will start extra early!! Wahey

At least it's nice to have an interest in whoever wins it this year, normally I can't be arsed with watching it.

Would you be willing to pay £20 to see saints in the Europa league.

If so, it's worth a bet, not that I generally endorse betting.

But villa are with most bookmakers 5-1 to win the fa cup in normal time. If you are confident of an arsenal win bet on a villa win. If arsenal win, you have lost £20 but your beloved saints are in Europe. If villa fluke a win you are £100 better off.

The risk is villa win after extra time or pens where the odds are not so great, villa lifting the trophy is 5-2. Would still see a £50 safe bet return if that happened.

Which arsenal team and which villa team will turn up. For me I'd happily pay £20 to have saints in Europe but will bet on villa for a bit of security so that I won't be quite so down if they fluke a win.

I've still got my "Saints say be a gooner for the day" for the semi-final after Hoddle left!

Nor me. I may astound myself this year, but probably not. Looking up the score somewhere around 7.30pm will probably do me.

It's a shame, because once the FA Cup was a huge event attracting more than the fans of the 2 teams involved. Partly because there were fewer games on TV.

When I started watching football it was the only live game on TV, until the 1966 World Cup. It was by far the biggest game of the season in those days. How times change :emoticon-0101-sadsm

My Dad went out especially to order a colour TV so we could watch the FA Cup (can't remember which one). It was Saturday morning and he told the chap in the shop he would only have it if it was delivered in time....the manager delivered it in the back of his car. Good service :)

Remember Cup Final "it's a knockout" and the reporter on the team coach and all the Jazz building up through the day? I used to watch it all as a kid.

That little bit of magic has gone. I knew it had waned when I fell asleep on the couch watching the Man Utd v Chelsea final a few years back. May even have been the first one back at the new Wembley.

That's the problem...the match is probably between 2 teams you've seen so many times before. That's why it's nice if an underdog gets through...with a chance of winning because the other team has never played them before. Remember when Brighton nearly won.

Yes those were the days, used to make a whole day of the occasion. Like you say there was it's a knockout or a mastermind competition, live at the hotels, coaches on way to stadium and generally some fun stuff, nowadays it's so called expert pundits boring us with their opinions. Maybe I am turning into a grumpy old git.
