Aside from The JAMC, my favourite band of the '80s. Totally unique, although MES has worn his Beefheart influences very clearly for almost 40 years. Just got back into listening to them again on a regular basis and it reminded me how good MES and the thousands of others who have played in the band were. Best with the formation of MES/Scanlon/Hanley/Burns and then Brix. To be honest, I only know snippets of their stuff after the '80s. But they've done 30 studio albums plus countless live and compilation records. My choice: 1. The Man Whose Head Expanded (Peel Sessions version) 2 2 x 4 3. Container Drivers (Peel Sessions versions) 4. Fiery Jack 5. Room To Live 6. Pay Your Rates 7. How I Wrote Elastic Man 8. Kicker Conspiracy 9. What About Us 10. Stephen Song (mentions for Draygo's Guilt, Lay of the Land, Rollin' Dany, Cary Grant's Wedding, Dice Man, My New House, Totally Wired. Fit And Working Again, Winter 1, No Bulbs, I Can Hear The Grass Grow, Oh! Brother, Rowche Rumble, Dead Beat Descendent, Strychnine, That Man.,City Hobgoblins, Industrial Estate, White Lightning, C.R.E.E.P, Spoilt Victorian Child)
