Rejecting a contract with us wasn't the smartest move he could have made.

I would be happy signing Cook and Vilhena and making Reed Wanyama's defensive partner.

Worked out reasonably well for him; he wouldn't have seen any of the pitch as we progressed, and with Huddersfield he's at a good level.

Eddie Howe shouldn't be manager of the team of the decade. He is a good manager, but so many others have been promoted several times to the PL in the last decade.

It's not all about promotion is it though. He saved Bournemouth from relegation when they were financially in the **** as well.

I think promotions are a good marker of success though.

Think Nigel has a better case of being Football League Manager of the Decade: From Physio to Manager of Scunthorpe, and 4 promotions in 6 seasons with them and us.

Adkins did a great job with us, but promotion from League 1 was nothing special - he had by far the biggest resources than any other manager in the league. Promotion from the Championship was only unexpected because it happened the very next season. The plan was always to get to the PL and again, he had plenty of money and resources. I'm not denying he did an excellent job, he did, but Howe getting promotion with Bournemouth (assuming he does) will be far bigger an achievement than Adkins getting us promoted.

Nigel also managed Scunthorpe as well, and started as a Physio - quite a rise for him. I'm not knocking Howe, and he is an excellent young manager, but I think there are better choices than him for this award.

    Anyone else have an opinion?

Yep. Eddie Howe - excellent choice. He was fantastic in his first stint at Bournemouth and brilliant in his second stint.

It is close, because Nigel's achievements were brilliant, but Scunthorpe did go down again.

Can't argue with Lallana and Lambert making team of the decade....PL players in the football league for several years. I would have gone for Nigel though as manager of decade....though Howe is a good manager.
