Yes I tend to agree & I doubt Washinton DC gives two ****s & as long as they get the oil contracts. I doubt Bliar looses any sleep over it either. The ****er.
Now now RAW, don't start going doo-lally on me mate. The Labour Government came to power in 97. The financial crash was in 2008. Labour went in a spending spree, for almost 11 years, increasing borrowing, increasing welfare benefits exponentially bloating the public sector, etc, bloody expensive etc! All those chickens came home to roost in 2008 when capital and balance sheets disappeared overnight and the banks needed the money back to stay afloat. That included money the government had borrowed from them using long term goverent bonds. You just can't blame one side RAW. The banks were greedy and corrupt. But so were the goverments as well, spending money they hadn't saved, to stay in power.
When we first joined the EU there was hardly any immigration from european partners. The bulk of immigration was from the commonwealth, brought in to bolster and support the post world war economy. European immigration just happened in the last decade when the EU opened up the free markets to labour as well as trade and goods. I understand why people hate Tory politicians. But they're all the ****ing same Joe, just in it for themselves! ps, with your young family I assumed I was a lot older than you I'm 55. Well most days. Friday nights I'm 19 again.
57 mate .. Teessidemackem is my son and he's 37 We will have to agree to disagree about politics, I have some very strong views but best kept to myself.
Don't think it matters who gets in. Four years of utter f*cking ****e and, hey presto, one decent effing year when they want your votes. Apart from Dennis Skinner, who is funny as f*ck they can all go away in jerky movements.
He once stood up in the house and said " half of them on the other side of the room are crooks". Immediately shot down and shouted at and asked to withdraw the comment by the speaker. He stood back up and said " I withdraw the remark" and followed it with " half of them on the other side of the room aren't crooks". The man is ace.
The country was making the money to pay for this for the vast majority of this tenure...This was undoubtedly the most prosperous this country has been during my life time, with crime rates low as well..
It wasn't mate. Apologies for bursting your balloon, but the Labour party went on a free-for-all spending jamboree that we all have to pay for. What I dont get is the Tories not pushing that down everyones throats.
Sorry RAW but this person is my Conservative candidate....! please log in to view this image I am rooting for her personally!
The banking crisis caught the western world by surprise? We all saw it coming. People being allowed to borrow more than 7 times what then earn for mortgages etc! By the way Tories promised to match labour spending pound for pound. They are all lying bastards who serve themselves and their masters. Look at how the class gap has widened again. This is no coincidence. We got too close. Grammar schools etc. they don't want us in power
RAW, I share your hatred of the Tories 100%. I've always voted Labour. But really, do you think the last Labour government was so great? How about all the PFI (Private Funding Initiative ?) ****e which leaves taxpayers having to pay for private companies' involvement in and profits in the state sector for years? Illegal invasion of Iraq and lie after lie told so that American oil companies could make huge profits. How many British soldiers died (yet alone all the Iraqis)? While Blair (public schoolboy) doesn't count, all the other Labour bigwigs benefited, like me, from being able to go to university for nowt. I was the first person in my working-class family to be able to do that. But, oh, now student grants have gone and it's loans and fees so only the middle-class or higher-up can go to college. Did you really join the Labour Party to push for privatisation, illegal wars and the end of free education? I doubt you did. I loved your post some years back about Liverpool fans singing "We'll all have a party when Maggie Thatcher dies" and read it out to relatives who were visiting at that time. Like you, I hope the Old Etonians like Cameron who were born into vast wealth get the boot in the election - but FFS, the leaders of the Labour Party aren't much better.
