Well played Saltburn by the sea...not a bad little par 70 course, not as good as Whitley Bay imho but I would go back. Lots of blind shots, good greens and the natives were friendly. The ladies provided a cup of tea, bit of pork pie, sausage roll and biscuit half way round.
We only scored 37 I believe 47 won it

Nice when you find a course that you would go back to.
I am not a lover of blind shots first time round as you don't know if you can cut some of a corner off or if there is any danger if you hit it too long etc, be better for you playing it next time though.

    Not a fan of Monty?

I quite like him. He's like Clarkson sometimes, engages the mouth before he puts his brain into gear.

I love his swing though!!! Looks effortless.

i like watching him when he is playing well, bit of a miserable ****er though.
Bet when he came off the second this morning with a double he wasn't best pleased, especially as his playing partners both carded birdies.
Has got a nice easy swing as well, effortless like you said.

Like the Big E's swing, its like he's not even trying.

Yeh, he can be a right grumpy sod when it's not going his way. Still love to watch him play though.

Sticking my nose in again. But who is Big E?

Sounds like a 1940s jazz player.

Big Ernie Els. His nickname is The Big Easy because he's a big bugger but has a golf swing that looks like he's swinging a big feather not a golf club.

I used to live in Saltburn may years ago and have played this course a good few time. It is a little gem..as you say with a few blind holes. I am headed back to the UK after being here in the Middle East for a few years and am looking to live in the north west, I am looking at 3 courses to join, so need to pick one, Chorley GC, Preston GC or Shaw Hills GC...anyone ever played any of these?

Is Slaley Hall a good course?? I'm think the NE must have some cracking courses and I've heard some decent things about it.

I have played there many times...I don;t play off a bad standard around a 9 handicap..but that course nearly destroyed my game. Admittedly it was just after a European event had been played and the rough was very rough..but its s tough course. My favourite course of all is Matfen Hall....beautiful course lovely greens, set in the most stunning countryside. My cousin is a member there so played there dozens of times...
