Playing Dunstanbrough Castle seniors tomorrow after having a couple of friends up for the weekend.... football on Friday night and cricket saturday. Dropping mates at railway station later today...rest of day recovering too much booze and food. Might need to dodge grandkids sitting I. E I think they are going to an Adventure Plaground (give them £20 for icecreams).
Think I shall play a round today. Still struggling with these new irons even though I have been told they are easier to hit than my last ones. Nothing more draining than a triple bogey half way through a round when you have started off reasonably well.
Played there last year, some fantastic holes right on the cliff tops. Cracking deal on up there. Stay at Percy Wood two night, a round at Seahouses, dunstanburgh and Percy Wood, £109.
I've got a wicked slice on me when teeing off with irons, doesn't happen all the time obviously but when it does it's bloody lethal. Flies off to the left at head height swerving like a Beckham free kick. Does anyone have any specific advice to help with it other than keep your head down and eyes on the ball? I drive and chip fine but hitting long distances with an iron can be troublesome.
if you are a right handed player and it flies off to the left then that is a duck hook mate? i will assume you are right handed. Either way try bringing your club back in a straight line on your back swing, keeping your left arm straight. it might be that you are bringing your left arm around your body meaning your swing is round and you are pulling your shots? Try also checking your grip, it could be that as well? If all else fails have a lesson mate, cant beat a decent pro telling you what the problem is and they can normally tell you within 5 minutes of watching you.
Had to cancel my golf game today, so slightly gutted. My mate has smashed his car up so can't get here from Salisbury. I suppose one good thing from it is that it's forecast for heavy rain. **** playing golf in the rain..
I played last night at the Emirates GC it was 42 degrees when we tee'd off.....I would have loved some rain then.
Ugh golf. You think you're playing well then BANG, you lost two balls on one hole and there goes the round!
The worst I played in over here was 50 degrees..now that was insane. You can manage it...course Marshalls come round with cold towels and ice lollys to keep your core temperature down, and you need to take supplement's to replace the minerals from your body..but it can be dangerous. There was a guy actually died of heat stroke a week ago...so rain would be a blessing now and again
It was rather a stupid question in all honesty. I played a lot of golf in Nicosia in the early 90s (posted out there with the UN). The summer heat was crazy, high 30s regularly and after playing a few times during the afternoon (without buggies) it was clear that it was not a good idea.
I probably should have said that I'm left handed, right handed for everything else but I'm a leftie for any two handed sports like golf and cricket. Always seemed strange to me. Either way though your advice is still relevant, pulling the shot would make it slice wouldn't it so I'll have a look at that next time, cheers.
