Transfer Rumours The January '16 transfer rumour thread.

Press already saying Vardy will go in January....what planet do they live on? Leicester (like us) have a rich owner and will not sell midseason. Summer may be another case, but hopefully they will give the two finger salute to that as well.

 

I no longer use News Now as it picks up every blogger who saw something in the Star and cut and pasted it hoping to get those clicks that earn money. I visit the OS and here, that is it. One thing that does make me mad is all those ex Pros in the media saying things like "Wanyama is just what Arsenal" need well no he ****ing isn't he is just what Saints need and we've got him. I would fall off my chair if the biggest prat of them all Murphy were to say "Agüero is just what Saints need at the moment". What makes me laugh is that no body ever said that Murphy was the kind of player any club needed. Of course they didn't because he was about as good a footballer as he is as a second rate TV pundit.

Good point, Godders. They never say things like that about teams like Southampton....we only exist as donors not recipients.

 

Maybe we should start a rumour that Gareth Bale is fed up with playing for the big clubs and has decided that he wants to return to Saints to fulfil his true ambition of taking Saints to the Champions League. "No amount of money will stop him returning to the club where his heart really lies and he is willing to take a massive pay cut just to have the honour of playing in the red and white stripes again" a source close to the player was quoted as saying.

 

I like it. I'm all for starting pro-Saints rumours to counter the 99% invented ones by the media.

Palermo have warned Southampton off trying to sign midfielder mid-season. Does this mean we are now one of those big clubs throwing their weight around?

 

I wouldn't worry Palermo. Ron's said that we don't need any midfielders.

 

Whether there is any truth in this or not, Ronald's sheer personality clout and reputation means that Saints can compete against teams who can pay players a bit better than we can. If there's one/one signing we simply have to make it's getting the Koeman brothers to extend their contracts.

I'd certainly still take him here, for what it's worth.

 

8m isn't unreasonable. Whether he will actually go for that is another matter. A few clubs will be looking at bolstering their striking options so it'll be interesting if anyone goes for Austin.

 

8m would be exceedingly reasonable. See next to no chance of us adding a striker in January, however.

 

I agree, unfortunately.

 

Should add: January wouldn't be the worst time to make additions. I know that prices are typically inflated, but the January premium may be a pittance compared to the insane prices we're going to start seeing in the summer, when every club has another 30-50m burning a hole in their pockets thanks to the new TV deal. The summer of 2016 is going to be an absurd feeding frenzy.
