    Has any other player, for any other club, played 6 consecutive seasons and helped to improve the club's league position every season (SKD excepted of course)? Apart from the fact that he is a great captain and leader, that fact alone puts him in the all-time pantheon of the English game.

    And then he goes and wins a major trophy with his national team! What next? Europa League?

    Great assist from Kelvin. Keeper lumps it up to the opposition box where a looping header from our CB sends the ball spiralling into the net; proper League 1 football, that.

    6 and a half, I wasn't counting the half, although of course he made a significant contribution to winning the JPT and us nearly getting to the playoffs that first season in League One.

    I knew if I said 7 seasons, someone would correct me as well!

    I am sorry but no one whomsoever in the whole world including the Queen and the president of the USA is irreplaceable. However I would miss him and do not want him to go.

    What I mean is he is worth more than money. He is our captain, leader, organiser. We would not get the monetary value from any club to compensate what we lose if he goes.

    It crossed my mind earlier - I wonder how Crystal Palace fans view Fonte?

    - Very happy to see him diong so well?

    - Couldn't care less either way?

    -Traitor who made a crazy transfer choice (at the time) and should never have left them?
