The Next Two Windows

Out of these 6 players, only Aarons I think we should keep.

That would mean we need to replace 5 more and still add in another CB.

I think this is what SM meant when he meant we would be doing business over several windows.

Elliott and Marveaux are not going to be seen as needing replacements. Obertan currently has a role in the side so will need replacing, Taylor similarly, preferably with improvementson what we currently have. Willo will hopefully have no further role in the first team, but we need a tall CB to replace him.

So that's 5 leaving with 3 replacements/improvements needed. 2 at CB and 1 pacy winger with end product. Is Lascelles a possible Taylor replacement? Are there reserve players looking likely to come through and fill these gaps? I'd far rather we began to be seen by young players as a viable option to break through into 1st XI than having to splurge money every window like we have this one just gone.

 

Elliot, Taylor and Williamson, make up a fair bit of the Home Grown Brigade, so when they go, it will leave an opening for more English players in the squad.

 

Lascelles and Darlow spring to mind as two who could step up.

 

They should already be included in the Eight Home Grown players.
There can only be 8 or 9 at most, which may explain why the likes of Willo, Bigi haven't been loaned out.

 

Get shot of any of the them at any price, keep Aarons (if we can, as either he or nufc are seemingly dicking around with the new contract). Try and get shot of tiote too while at it.

Tend to think Taylor will be extended ..if ..He keeps himself fit

Then 4 in at the xmas window.... a tall CB, LB (hadiera is squad level at best atm) .ball playing cabaye-esque MF (split the Colback/Anita pairing), forward

 

Colback needs replacing if you really ever want top half

 

We need to retain Aarons. The rest we don't.

Goalkeepers - Krul, Darlow, Woodman - thats enough for me
Defenders - Janmaat, Mbemba, Colo, Lascelles - the rest I'm not sure about keeping. So ideally 2 LB's, a CB first choice, and a back up RB
Midfielders - Colback, Anita, Gini, Sissoko, Thauvin, Roberts, Aarons, Perez, SDJ - I think we are good at 10 and wide. I think Colback and Anita would be reasonable back up for the two deeper roles. So I'd like two in there, destroyer to replace Tiote, and a ball player to replace Cabaye.
Attackers - Mitrovic - We need two more here.

So I think we need 7 over the two windows. Start with two defenders and a striker. Then get the midfielders, right back and another striker.

I think you shift the likes of Saylor, Tiote, Haidara, Dummett, Obertan, Gouffran, Eliott, Vuckic, Marveaux, Riviere, Cisse, Williamson as replacements arrive. Colo will also probably need replaced at end of that cycle. These are the players who are sub standard or nearing end of their usefulness to me. You can then move on to upgrading Colback, Anita but for the time being they can do a job as back up.

That's a very long term view of how I see it.
