Get Fable on the pitch belting out "Oh When The Saints" before Inter at home! Then tell Ralph and Kat she's always been a Saints fan and there's just one little thing they could do to help...
Completely off topic but as some of you were very kind when I mentioned my wife's recent problems I thought I drop a quick update in and say a big thank you for all your kind thoughts and concern. Chris [my wife] finally got back home and settled after a somewhat difficult two weeks. She went in to Hospital for planned open surgery on 30th August for removal of a kidney as well as a small nodule on mesentery of small intestine. Nodule turned out to be benign but the kidney contained a cancer as suspected. Chris was discharged after three days only to have to go to A&E a couple of days later with stroke like symptoms, I can tell you on a Wednesday night when your wife suddenly starts behaving like she's had a stroke you do **** yourself. Chris' daughter is a senior sister/nurse praticioner in A&E she said drive to A&E so I did. That was one scary night I can honestly say. Turned out to be a very low plasma sodium level which took around six days to correct before she could be discharged again! We saw the surgeon on Monday (26/09/16) and because the cancer contained within the kidney was fairly nasty she now has to have six monthly CT scans for the next three years then annually or whatever protocol is in place by then. Fingers crossed of course but good news overall. Onwards and upwards.... Once again thanks for all the concern and kind words, it was appreciated. As for my football opinions....feel free to slag away!
Hope the good progress continues Shepherds! Nothing is as important as the health and happiness of your loved ones.
Bless you Shep - all best wishes to you and your family. As Fats says, here's to progression and continued good news.
In less important news, have a meeting in town this morning then going to see David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall this evening. Bugger all to do in the interim period so am off museum hopping like an old fart.... If the cap fits....
Oh no! I love Herons, but they're a menace to domestic fishponds. John B ("Digger") used to work in the fisheries industry and said they were often shot, though, when asked by the authorities, they were (apparently) after rabbits by the fishponds and the herons were collateral damage RIP "Jaws"
Good luck, Shep and best wishes to Chris and hope they can manage it. If it's any consolation, my sister's been battling the dreaded "C" now for over 3 years (secondaries from the breast cancer she had nearly 15 years ago) and they seem (fingers, toes and everything crossed) to be holding it at bay. There are good and bad days, but as the consultant said on her last visit "We are hopeful that many cancers are now not seen as death sentences, but chronic illnesses we can manage". Keep fighting and try to be positive. Thinking of you.
Join the rest of the world, Dave. As far as I know, everybody likes Tom Hanks, even if it is only just a little bit. You'd think a guy like him would have had a very settled and loving childhood, to help him become such a nice man, but listening to his edition of Desert Island Discs just last night, I didn't realise what a topsy-turvy upbringing he'd had.
