I hope we have the desire to complete the infrastructure to support higher football sooner rather than later and by all accounts it will be finished by the end of next season - minus the Atyeo revision. Once we have the supporting mechanism in place then we can look forward to consistently higher level football. Realism, financial resources and the right club set-up are crucial steps along the way and I think we are close.
I notice Norwich are looking to let Gary Hooper go. Surely he would be a very good, and cheaper option than Gray or Gayle. Still only 27, and has a very good goal scoring record over time, not just 1 season like the other 2. Should we miss out on Gray I think this would be a very shrewd signing for us
If we can spend £9 million on grey then why not £1.5million on matt smith, £3million on a CB and LB and £3 million on one or two world class (ish) midfielders?
Where did you get £1.5 mill for Matt Smith? And he got injured last night, He's also a different forward to Gayle and Gray so I would say he wouldn't be a target for Cotts
You don't have to worry about spending ridiculous money on Gray anymore as he has decided that BS3 is not, and probably never was, his choice of destination. Forget Smith (bless his cotton socks) unless he's available on loan again and let's now spend the 8 million or so on 2/3/4 players that want to be here and can boost our squad in quality and depth. Greedy players and their equally greedy agents, complete with unrealistic transfer fees, need not apply.
.....and now for something completely different.. 17 Aug 2015 17:25:03 Bristol City look to bolster their midfield with a £220,000 bid for Dundalk's Richie Towell. An attacking midfielder with a penchant for the spectacular, Towell may follow other unpolished gems who started in Ireland before starring in the English leagues, such as Shane Long, Séamus Coleman and Wes Hoolahan.
Sorry to dash your hopes jgf2 but your comeback is spot on. Just noticed wizered's post and I ask didn't we bring in the next supposed George Best's when we took on 2 young Irish kids about 4-5 years ago? Whatever happened to them? You never know what might happen next, especially from Bristol City, so perhaps Gareth Bale is next on our list.
20 Aug 2015 19:58:09 Bristol City will again look at Yussuf Poulsen after failing to land other targets. 21 Aug 2015 13:01:26 Been hearing this morning from a source very close to the club that there are 3 strikers being courted by Bristol City at the moment. If Fulham sign Gayle then Matt Smith would be surplus to requirements. Equally the same is being said about Gary Hooper of Norwich, the third a bit less likely but maybe a move for ex City man Sam Baldock. Also looking at premiership defender.
