Maybe he's right. It would be an interesting exercise to study the postcodes of season pass holders of all 3 professional clubs. I would bet City has far more fans then FC/Rovers that live outside the Hull boundary. It's not scientific but will provide a guideline if it were possible.
No one tells me what to read, OLM. Try taking your own advice when you complain about what others write.
I would expect that FC have a lot of season ticket holders who live outside the city boundary, just as City have, though I suspect this isn't the case with KR.
You are making the mistake of equating everything with the local teams. A parochial attitude which bedevils Hull. Far more leagues for football than rugby, more people watching football games not involving the local team in pubs than watch rugby games not involving the Hull clubs, far more excitement over football tournaments than RL ones. When Leeds United were in the PL they had a higher percentage of season ticket holders from outside the city boundaries than any other club. Leeds RL club have won far more trophies. Yet no one in Leeds claims it is a rugby city.
No, I'm not joking; why do I need to read their forums when I can get all of the bigotry I might wish to read on here? Neither set of fans cover themselves in glory in this and it will hold Hull back from any serious external sporting investment. This obscene, venomous attitude by some sport supporters for other clubs and other sports is shameful and sets a really poor tone for community and general public attitudes to each other. My rugby city comment was a tad tongue-in-cheek as their own myopic attitude to their sport is self-destroying; only the crazy TV money of football keeps that head above water, otherwise it would join them. I get back to Hull and it's surrounding areas quite often (on business) and it is far easier to find conversation about rugby league than it is football; that is the way it comes across to me as an outsider, of 42yrs, who loves football and ruby (both disciplines) both is falling out of love with the support and ownership structure of both. Anyway, off to the wonderful Durham CCC ground at Chester-Le-Street where Yorkshire set records yesterday and have lined up a hot and heady day of cricket; I'll drink a few beers in the stands and in the members bar, chill and, hopefully, see Yorkshire give Durham a good spanking and avoid a 4th day when rain might spoil a great game. There is no segregation, just great humour and a common love of a sport.
The figures seem quite reasonable as the discussion was about the popularity of the senior sports and not the teams that make it exist.
I do wonder why you take the time to point out such a small and meaningless difference in numbers. would you agree that the size of away support corrupts the figures and taking them out would establish further balance between sports, as the discussion is about support in the City?
Actually Chazz quoted the Stingrays captain as saying that Hull was a rugby league city and I replied " I heard that. The sporting support in Hull is split between FC and Rovers. No mention of the team with the most support and no intervention from the presenter to put him right." Which was about which team had the most support. Which is City. It wasn't about the sport. Someone else changed that by adding two sets of rugby figures together, subtracting City's away crowds but not rugby and still showing City had more but thinking this showed it was a rugby city. All the figures for local leagues, interest in football in the pub for tournaments and England games show more people are interested in football. Which isn't surprising as football is the national sport. Before they altered the set up the England travel club stated that the team with the most members was West Ham United. Guess which was the second highest?
People think that Leicester is a rugby town because the rugby club is bigger than the football one in despite the fact the football has far more supporters. I can't remember the last time I saw someone in a Tigers shirt to be honest. I've always thought of Hull as a Rugby town for the same reason. I suppose it's just ignorance.

And just for the sake of accuracy, when the forum moved to the new software package, many of the likes were lost but the post count remained the same. Looking at my ratio I must have lost at least a thousand likes
