if we are signing these kids at 16/17/18 then they will be classed as home grown by 19/20/21 ... Orta knows what he's doing .. they will also be classed as developed by Leeds as I understand it you need 8 homegrown players in your squad of 25, with 4 of the 8 being developed by your club .. players under 21 don't have to be registered in your squad of 25 but they can count as homegrown if you register them ... the under 21 players will count as homegrown in your matchday squad of 18 even if they're not registered ... think you need 6 homegrowns in matchday squad of 18 REGISTERED FIRST TEAM SQUAD OF 25 must include a minimum of 8 homegrown players (registered with a UK club for 3 years aged between 15 and 21) of these homegrown players, a minimum of 4 need to have been registered with your club for at least 3 seasons between the ages of 15 and 21 (developed in your Academy) if not enough senior (over 21) homegrown players are available to register, club can register the required number of players short from their under 21 homegrown players to make up the first team squad quota under 21 players do not have to be registered in the first team squad of 25 to be eligible to play for the first team, so any under 21 player can be selected in the matchday squad at any stage of the season regardless of how long they've been at the club A NON-ENGLISH STARTING ELEVEN this happened on a couple of occasions with Chelsea and Arsenal, and Scum played a starting eleven with just one English player on a number of occasions ... this can happen where you have overseas players who were registered at English clubs for three years before the age of 21 ... therefore, when they got selected in the matchday squad they were classed as homegrown even though they were non-English it has also happened where there were English players on the bench to make up the homegrown numbers, leaving the manager free to select a non-English starting eleven this is why young English players who get senior football early in their careers and show themselves to be capable become sought after .. think Cook, Taylor, Byram, Howson etc ... at least now we are intent on keeping our own youngsters whilst adding exciting European talents to our Academy so that they will also eventually qualify as homegrown .. this is a sound strategy, and will only benefit Leeds Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Billy your post is referencing Premier League rules, which do indeed necessitate a quota of 8 home grown players in a 25 player squad age over 21. There is no requirement to name any of them in your match day squad. EFL rules are quite different in that they require 7 home grown players to be named on each and every match day team sheet which includes substitutes. This is far more rigorous then PL rules.
It IS problem for the English game. 'bout time you lot started to give the local talent a chance and f**k off the foreign players. I know, I know, we do it too, but we don't have a lot of 'local talent'.
I remember when England played a non-English player as a goalkeeper in the World Cup a few years ago. Gordon Banks was, let us say, injured (the day after he had received an Imperial Honour) and he was replaced with Bonetti from Chelsea, a Gibraltarian. England didn't win!
Ffs hope millwall can beat a non league team soon,we are in danger of losing TC and Mighty to Germany before the season starts
An argument you and your band of idiots have made redundant. Its your fault when we cant buy, pick and play who we want.
